It was a case of so near yet so far for our girls in the Australian Open Finals yesterday on the Gold Coast.

In the Women’s Fours Gracie Retallick and Emma Simmonds alongside teammates Taiia Devlin and Olivia Slade went down narrowly in an epic match against a strong Malaysian side. The girls fought back from 6-12 down to take the lead with 2 ends to go, before an incredible bowl from the Malaysian skip trailed the jack for 5 shots on the second last end. Well done to all 4 girls. An amazing effort to get to the AO final beating some great teams along the way.

It was a similar hard luck story for Cass Millerick who fought back from 7-16 behind to hold game on the last end. Jamie Lee Worsnop produced a bowl worthy of winning any title landing Cass’ shot bowl to win the match.

Congratulations to Jamie-Lee and the Malaysian Four on their victories.

Today, we have Mackenzie Parsons in the under 18’s girls final. Mackenzie’s match will be live streamed on BA youtube channel at 11am.

Good luck Macka!!

The 2026 Moama May Carnival has come to an end on a very rainy day here at Moama. The George Lynch Fours was the final event of the carnival.

We had 1 round of sectional play and we just managed to sneak it in to beat the weather.

The top 16, kicked off in the afternoon and the following players finished on the podium.

🥇- Travis Kelly, Henry Boswood, Bradley Campbell and Cameron Keenan
🥈- Cooper Wescombe(sub), Riley Boxshall, Josh Walker-Davis and Sam Rogers
🥉- Ray Sellwood, Rodney Werner, Brian Mansbridge, John Caldwell
🥉- Joe Luci, Mark Jones, Dane Gade and Aaron Burke

Fun fact - The event is named after Moama’s only male State Championship winner prior to this year. George Lynch won the BV state champion of champion singles in 1975. This year was our second and ironically Travis Kelly and Cameron Keenan were part of the winning team.

A huge thanks to everyone who competed in this years event. We would like to wish everyone a safe journey home, and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2027.
