The antidote to stress isn’t always rest. Often it’s strength.

When stress stays trapped in the mind, it becomes anxiety. The body was designed to move, lift, carry, push and pull. Strength training gives stress somewhere to go.

A few sets of squats, push-ups, lunges or crunches can help shift your nervous system out of overthinking and into action. You do not need a gym membership or fancy equipment to start. Your own body weight is enough. As you get stronger, add some dumbbells and continue building.

The goal is not just stronger muscles. It is a stronger nervous system. One that can hold more, recover faster and meet life’s challenges with greater calm and confidence.

When you feel stressed, do not just ask yourself, “How can I relax?”
