I’ve been a little quiet on here lately.
To be completely honest, perimenopause has been kicking my ass.
The last few weeks have been a combination of hormones, low energy, tears for absolutely no reason, and trying to get organised for an overseas trip with the kids. Add in all the work, packing, school holiday prep, making sure everything at home was sorted before we left, and my stress tolerance was basically non-existent.
There were days where I genuinely questioned why I even bother.
Why bother training?
Why bother posting?
Does anyone even read this stuff anyway?
Does anyone care?
When your hormones are all over the place, it’s amazing how convincing those thoughts can feel.
This morning when I was working out in the gym with my family, I looked around, I noticed almost everyone was heading straight for the treadmill or cross trainer.
And it reminded me why I keep showing up.
Because women need to hear this message.
Cardio has its place, but if we’re talking about longevity, strength, confidence, independence, bone health, muscle mass and quality of life as we age, lifting weights matters.
Especially for women.
Especially during perimenopause.
So while I’ve been feeling flat, emotional and questioning everything, that little reminder this morning helped me reconnect with why I started sharing all of this in the first place.
Not because I think I’ve got it all figured out.
But because I know there are other women sitting at home right now feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, emotional and wondering why their body suddenly feels different.
If that’s you, you’re not alone.
And if you’ve been struggling lately too, I’d love to know I’m not the only one. ❤️

Things I will continue to shout from the rooftops!

Your body isn’t broken. The plan is.
❌ You can’t out-train bad sleep
❌ Crash dieting isn’t a metabolism fix
❌ 6 sessions a week for 3 weeks does nothing

✅ Sleep 7 hours minimum
✅ Hit your protein (Aim for 30g each meal)
✅ Move consistently — even when life gets messy

That’s it. That’s the whole game. If you’re a busy mum in your 30s or 40s wondering why nothing is “working” — it’s probably not what you think.

Drop a 🙋‍♀️ below if any of this sounds familiar.

Spent 25 minutes making this. Spent 30 minutes editing the reel to share it. Make it make sense 🤪

Anyway. This is a big batch meat pie. I cut it into 8 pieces, and it feeds a crowd, freezes beautifully and my kids absolutely lose their minds when I make this because they love it so much!

Ingredients:
• 1kg beef mince
• 2 onions, diced
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 4 carrots, grated
• 4 mushrooms, diced
• 2 tbsp olive oil
• 4 tbsp tomato paste
• ½ cup beef stock
• 1 tsp sweet paprika
• 1 tsp nutmeg
• 2 sheets shortcrust pastry or homemade
• 2 sheets puff pastry or homemade
• 1 egg, beaten
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C. If using store bought pastry sheets defrost them on the bench.
2. Heat oil in a pan, cook onion and garlic until fragrant.
3. Add mince and brown it off.
4. Add red wine, nutmeg and sweet paprika and stir through. Then add carrots and mushrooms and stir through and simmer until liquid has halved.
5. Turn heat down and add beef stock and tomato paste. Stir through until all mixed together and turn off heat and let sit to cool.
6. Line a large baking dish with shortcrust pastry for the base.
7. Fill with the cooled meat mixture.
8. Top with puff pastry, press edges to seal.
9. Brush with egg wash.
10. Bake 30–35 mins until golden.
11. Cut into 8 pieces. Serve with tomato sauce. Obviously.
