I’ve been a little quiet on here lately.
To be completely honest, perimenopause has been kicking my ass.
The last few weeks have been a combination of hormones, low energy, tears for absolutely no reason, and trying to get organised for an overseas trip with the kids. Add in all the work, packing, school holiday prep, making sure everything at home was sorted before we left, and my stress tolerance was basically non-existent.
There were days where I genuinely questioned why I even bother.
Why bother training?
Why bother posting?
Does anyone even read this stuff anyway?
Does anyone care?
When your hormones are all over the place, it’s amazing how convincing those thoughts can feel.
This morning when I was working out in the gym with my family, I looked around, I noticed almost everyone was heading straight for the treadmill or cross trainer.
And it reminded me why I keep showing up.
Because women need to hear this message.
Cardio has its place, but if we’re talking about longevity, strength, confidence, independence, bone health, muscle mass and quality of life as we age, lifting weights matters.
Especially for women.
Especially during perimenopause.
So while I’ve been feeling flat, emotional and questioning everything, that little reminder this morning helped me reconnect with why I started sharing all of this in the first place.
Not because I think I’ve got it all figured out.
But because I know there are other women sitting at home right now feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, emotional and wondering why their body suddenly feels different.
If that’s you, you’re not alone.
And if you’ve been struggling lately too, I’d love to know I’m not the only one. ❤️
