Plympton Flyers Little Athletics Club

Providing athletics competition for children aged 5-17. We believe in fun, family, and fitness. The emphasis is on family, fun, fitness, and improvement.

Plympton Flyers Little Athletics Centre is associated with Little Athletics South Australia. We offer Sunday morning athletics for children aged 3 to 17 and are located in Mitchell Park which is 10 km south of Adelaide. We encourage young children and teenagers to strive to achieve their best in a full range of athletic events and activities regardless of ability.

You've heard about our Long Jump Appeal — now there's an easy, tax-deductible way to help.

For 20+ years, our four run-ups have been where Flyers kids learn to jump and fly. We're extending and resurfacing our two 30m rubber run-ups to a full 40m and rubberising our two 20m dolomite ones — so all four are safe and competition-standard, for every age from Tiny Tots to U17s.

Through the Australian Sports Foundation, every donation is tax-deductible, and gifts before June 30 can be claimed this financial year. 💙

This morning, our very own Mel Hodson called into Triple M Adelaide 104.7 to nominate the Flyers for their Auto Masters 'Kit for Kids' $5,000 prize — and she did an amazing job!

We're now in the running to win funding to resurface our long jump run-ups, which are quickly degrading and are now well overdue for replacement. It's a project we simply can't fund alone — so this is a huge opportunity for our club.

Resurfacing the long jump run-up tracks at our athletics club. The rubber surface on our run-ups has been degrading for some time and is now perishing badly — creating an uneven and potentially unsafe surface for our young athletes. A proper resurfacing would restore safe, fair conditions for kids to learn and compete in one of athletics' most exciting and fundamental events.

Plympton Flyers Little Athletics Club has been serving the south-western suburbs of Adelaide for over 40 years, giving hundreds of children aged 3 to 17 the opportunity to participate in a fun, inclusive and affordable sport. Our volunteers give up countless hours every week to run a club that puts kids first — but we simply don't have the budget to tackle major infrastructure repairs like this on our own. Winning this prize would mean every child who steps onto that run-up does so safely and that the facility continues to serve our community for years to come.

A special mention here for our entire U11 Girls group — an extraordinary five Plympton Flyers athletes qualified for the U11 Girls 80mH final at the State Individual Championships. Five finalists from one club, one age group. That is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the depth and quality of this group. 👏

🗓 Record age: 𝟑𝟔 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬
A record that had stood since 1990, broken by just 0.12 seconds on the first day of the State Championships. It was a remarkable race with Indii Backwell, finishing second by .01 with 1:06.99 — which would also have broken the 36-year-old record. Two athletes, one race, one historic Plympton Flyers moment. ⭐⭐

Eva Pfitzner broke this record in 2023 after Kirby Mutton held it since 1995 — a remarkable 28 years, and we thought it could stand for another 28 before being challenged. Now, just three seasons later, Maria has surpassed it again. Three record holders, spanning three decades of Plympton Flyers history. ⭐

What an incredible little athletics season we've just wrapped up! We're grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate our athletes and club achievements at our end of season presentations.

A big thank you to our club patron, Nadia Clancy MP , for taking time out of her Sunday to be with us, present the major awards and trophies and hear about our fantastic season. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support she provides to our club.

We also recognise the incredible efforts of our committee, Age Group Chaperones and families — your dedication and support throughout the 2025/26 season have been amazing. A special thank you to Ann-Marie Antic for doing a wonderful job organising and running our End of Season raffle!

We also congratulate our graduating Under 17 athletes who receive Honorary Membership in recognition of their years of commitment to the club: Lucas Roberts, Tahli Carslake, Jessica Nation, Sophie Van Schaik and Camille D'Arsie-Hausler. 💙

What a season — record 313 athletes, 21 club records broken and our best ever State Championships results. We could not be prouder of every single athlete, volunteer and family who made it happen.
