Plympton Flyers Little Athletics Club

Providing athletics competition for children aged 5-17. We believe in fun, family, and fitness. The emphasis is on family, fun, fitness, and improvement.

Plympton Flyers Little Athletics Centre is associated with Little Athletics South Australia. We offer Sunday morning athletics for children aged 3 to 17 and are located in Mitchell Park which is 10 km south of Adelaide. We encourage young children and teenagers to strive to achieve their best in a full range of athletic events and activities regardless of ability.

Plympton families, we are now only one month out from the start of the season! Before the first meet panic sets in, do a quick waffle fit test. If there are complaints of "too tight", or "that was last year's size", we've got some pre-loved treasures at only $15 a pair waiting!

Plympton Flyers will support our athletes and any student aged 14+ taking part in the STRIVE Leadership & Development Program.

STRIVE is a great pathway for our older athletes to gain state and national accreditation in coaching and officiating, build leadership skills and earn 10 SACE credits.

A great winter of cross country from our athletes — well done to all who took part.

Eight of our athletes took on the State Cross Country Championships at Waite Arboretum, and they had some great results:

U10 Girls 2km — Sophie Cribb, 1st
U10 Boys 2km — Patrick Vivian, 10th
U11 Girls 3km — Maria Kowalczyk, 1st · Clara Oberdan, 4th
U11 Boys 3km — Leo Ewer, 5th · Darcy Williams, 7th
U13 Boys 3km — Jacob Chatterton, 1st
U14 Girls 4km — Eva Pfitzner, 2nd

Plympton also finished first in the Girls Champion Centre standings — a terrific result from our girls! 💙

You've heard about our Long Jump Appeal — now there's an easy, tax-deductible way to help.

For 20+ years, our four run-ups have been where Flyers kids learn to jump and fly. We're extending and resurfacing our two 30m rubber run-ups to a full 40m and rubberising our two 20m dolomite ones — so all four are safe and competition-standard, for every age from Tiny Tots to U17s.

Through the Australian Sports Foundation, every donation is tax-deductible, and gifts before June 30 can be claimed this financial year. 💙

This morning, our very own Mel Hodson called into Triple M Adelaide 104.7 to nominate the Flyers for their Auto Masters 'Kit for Kids' $5,000 prize — and she did an amazing job!

We're now in the running to win funding to resurface our long jump run-ups, which are quickly degrading and are now well overdue for replacement. It's a project we simply can't fund alone — so this is a huge opportunity for our club.

Resurfacing the long jump run-up tracks at our athletics club. The rubber surface on our run-ups has been degrading for some time and is now perishing badly — creating an uneven and potentially unsafe surface for our young athletes. A proper resurfacing would restore safe, fair conditions for kids to learn and compete in one of athletics' most exciting and fundamental events.

Plympton Flyers Little Athletics Club has been serving the south-western suburbs of Adelaide for over 40 years, giving hundreds of children aged 3 to 17 the opportunity to participate in a fun, inclusive and affordable sport. Our volunteers give up countless hours every week to run a club that puts kids first — but we simply don't have the budget to tackle major infrastructure repairs like this on our own. Winning this prize would mean every child who steps onto that run-up does so safely and that the facility continues to serve our community for years to come.

Over 2.8 metres beyond the previous mark. And what a journey to finish on — Lucas has been a Plympton Flyer for 11 seasons, from U7 all the way through to U17. Finishing his final season with two centre records is a fitting way to end an incredible athletics career at our club. 💙⭐
