SPEED DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHT

Check out Kerri’s running form before and after some cueing and technical drilling in our speed development sessions.

Kerri’s main point of focus was correcting over-striding.

In the graphic, you can see her tendency to strike the ground with heel out in front of her body, instead of directly beneath her hips.

After some coaching, her foot position and knee drive has greatly improved, increasing her running efficiency!

While protein powder is not an essential part of the diet, it can be a convenient way to increase your protein intake and help you reach your goals 💥

So which protein powder is right for you?

Dairy based proteins are used more efficiently by the body and usually have a low concentration of carbohydrates and fats 🥛

Plant based proteins can be just as good, especially a soy based protein, but be aware of the protein blend to make sure you aren’t missing out on key amino acids 🌱

Bonus points if your protein powder has 2-3g of leucine per serve, an amino acid that supports muscle protein synthesis (ie muscle growth)

The final thing to note: if you are an athlete you will need a protein that has been batch tested and does not contain banned substances 💪🏻

Here's some stats that may shock you...

Women are 9x more likely to rupture their ACL's than their male counterparts in the AFL.

And, you are 2x more likely to require a knee replacement later in life if you do an ACL.

Over 80% of ACL's occur in pre-season or the first half of the season.

If you currently play, then you know what I’m talking about.

Was there a match last season season where a teammate didn’t go down with a serious injury?

Whether it was a season ending ACL, or a soft tissue injury that required months on the sidelines; I’m betting that you saw them all (or worse - have been a casualty yourself)

There is a reason why the AFLW have introduced a national injury prevention program, aimed at providing clubs with the resources to help female players reduce their injury risk, and improve their performance.

They have recognised that it is a serious problem, and one that needs addressing - fast.

But there’s a problem…

Unless you are fortunate enough to play for an AFLW club, those resources don’t filter through to you.

You’re left to navigate the maze that is strength and conditioning, and injury prevention…on your own.

That’s where we come in.
