Sutherland Sharks have a longer and more intriguing history than many might imagine. Despite the adversity of a small population base and relative isolation (no direct road access to Sydney), the seeds of the current football club was sown as far back as 1930 with the formation of Sutherland United SFC. By 1936, the club had grown ma

rkedly leading to a split and formation of the club we know today, albeit under a different moniker - Casuals Soccer Football Club. With the return of Servicemen following WWII, the population of the area quickly grew and with it the prowess of the Casuals. Up until this point the club had competed in the St George Association but in 1947 the Casuals stepped up to the Metropolitan Soccer League (effectively the Sydney 2nd Division, second in status behind only the old NSW Soccer Association 1st Division). The club soon earned its stripes in this highly competitive league and to the surprise of many, won the title in just their second year. This success led to promotion to the heady heights of the Association 1st Division but disappointingly, financial constraints forced them to let the opportunity pass. It would be another 24 years before the club would move into the State’s top flight.

Thank You, Guillermo 🤝

As the administration of the Strikers program moves across to the Sutherland Sharks FC for 2027, we want to take a moment to acknowledge Guillermo Rubio and everything he brought to the Sutherland Strikers senior program in 2026.

Guillermo led the side with quality and professionalism that elevated the entire squad throughout the 2026 season.

Guillermo won’t be continuing into the Sharks Women’s program for 2027, and we want to thank him sincerely for his dedication and effort throughout the season.

We wish Guillermo all the best for what’s next, and thank him for his contribution in 2026 👏🦈

The Girls JDL 2027 trials are locked in 🦈⚽

Our shared 2027 program kicks off with open trials this Sunday 13th September at Seymour Shaw. All U10-U13 girls welcome, no rep or academy kit needed, just boots, shin pads and training gear.

All trialists must reside within the Sutherland Shire to be eligible for selection.

While it’s the end of our NPL season, it’s just the beginning for us. Proud is an understatement.

Six record crowds. Over 23,000 people across the season. A community re-ignited.

This season has brought the club and the community closer than ever before. We’re sad we’re out, but we’re thankful for every single fan who’s been on the ride with us.

Now, we rest, recuperate, and take our community to the national stage 🙌
