Today we officially renamed the Bellingara netball complex in honour of Margaret Corbett.

Margaret was a stalwart of the game, both here in the Shire and at a national and global level.

It was fantastic to be joined by so many of Margaret’s children and family to celebrate her legacy, along with the broader Netball family including the Miranda Magpies Netball, Sutherland Shire Netball Association, and Netball NSW.

The decision to rename public spaces is not one that is taken lightly but I couldn’t think of someone more deserving - a woman who dedicated so much of her life to the sport and our community.

We were honoured to see the Bellingara Netball Courts officially renamed the Margaret Corbett Netball Complex, recognising the incredible legacy of the late Margaret Corbett OAM, one of Australia’s most influential netball leaders and a much loved and valued part of the Miranda Magpies community.

Margaret’s contribution to netball has left an enduring mark, and it was wonderful to see her legacy celebrated in such a meaningful way.

It was also fantastic to see some of our current and past Miranda Magpies Committee members, players and community members come together for the unveiling and to celebrate Margaret’s remarkable contribution to our sport.

A truly special recognition for an extraordinary netball leader 🏐

Margaret’s lifelong dedication and immense contribution to both our club, Sutherland Shire Netball and Netball NSW have left an unforgettable legacy.

So proud of our D2 team, who battled all the way to the Grand Final and finished as runners up! 👏

While the result wasn’t quite what we hoped for, reaching the Grand Final is a fantastic achievement and something this team should be incredibly proud of.
