Melita Eagles United Soccer Football Club was established in 1956 by Maltese immigrants after the amalgamation of two Maltese clubs - Malta Eagles (Established 1952) and Melita Soccer Football Club (Established 1953). Prior to their amalgamation these two clubs were
the fiercest of rivals competing in the Eastern Suburbs Soccer Football Association (ESSFA). Melita Eagles' origins are strongly linked to the Maltese community & stretch back to the formation of the original NSW Federation of Soccer Clubs in 1957. For 50 years Melita Eagles enjoyed many successful seasons at State and National level, collecting many trophies in this period. The clubโ€™s highlight was reaching as high as the worldโ€™s 90th ranked football club back in 1993, the first Australian football club to climb inside the world's top 100 clubs. Unfortunately at the conclusion of the 2006 season, difficult times lead to the Maltese losing ownership of the club. While there was some success in the 18 years under the ownership of other parties, the 7 years prior to 2024 have been the most difficult in the clubโ€™s history. Still active, Melita Eagles Sports Club were invited to send a squad to Melbourne to compete in the inaugural Maltese Cultural Cup in January of 2020. Hosted by Caroline Springs George Cross FC, the Eagles stunned the crowd winning the tournament. Looking to revive the clubโ€™s identity, after years of setbacks, the โ€œMelitaโ€ brand came alive
again in 2024 with the Eagles returning to competitive football. Melita Eagles are proud of their history and heritage, and aim to continue the legacy left by the clubโ€™s founders.

On the 21st of September 1964, Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom. This ended a long period of Maltese history in which it was ruled by a plethora of foreign rulers, opening the doors for the creation of an Independent state which would later join the Commonwealth of Nations in 1964 and declare itself a republic.

In what will be our fifth time participating in this amazing annual event, Craft Market Greystanes is a vibrant community event that showcases creative talent in the community. Featuring exciting stalls, the market sells hand-made goods including Christmas decorations and gifts, baby wear, dรฉcor, plants, embroidery, jewellery and delicious treats.

Sadly our 2026 season came to an end for our Mens All Age competition, with our Premier League Reserve Grade side just falling short in their semi final match, going down 2-1 to last year's champions, Inter Parramatta FC, a fortnight ago.

Although dominating the majority of the match and mounting a myriad of shots on the Inter Parramatta goalmouth, conceding two early goals would prove costly for our Eagles. As the match wore on, our opponents grew weary, giving our Red & Whites a great chance to sn**ch victory. However, they certainly had their goalkeeper to thank, who was instrumental in goal, only conceding once to hold on for an important victory.

Through all the setbacks, we can look back and say it has been a positive finish to our season, and although claiming no silverware in 2026, qualifying for the Finals Series was something we were happy about, taking on some outstanding teams and giving them an almighty scare.

To all our supporters who came out to cheer us on in our 70th anniversary year, we thank you for your support and hope to see you back next year. Here's to an even bigger 2027 season!!! โšฝ ๐Ÿฆ… ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡น ๐Ÿ‘Š

Sadly our 2026 season comes to an end for our Over 35's competition, with our White side just falling short in last week's semi final, going down 2-1 to last year's finalists, Kings Old Boys Castle Hill.

In saying this, it has been an amazing season for our newest Over 35's squad, going nine consecutive matches undefeated throughout their regular season, plus qualifying for the Finals Series.

We are as eager as they are to return to the competition in 2027 to go further, & aim for the Eagles' first piece of silverware in this competition. Well Done Melita Eagles FC Over 35's White!!! โšฝ ๐Ÿฆ… ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡น ๐Ÿ‘Š
