🏏 Match Review | Black Hawks vs WPC 🖤💛

Another strong performance from the Black Hawks as we continue our push towards another championship! 💯

Having been asked to bowl first, the Hawks produced a clinical display with the ball, ripping through the WPC batting lineup and dismissing them for just 86 runs. 🖤

The star of the show was Hasitha, who led the attack brilliantly with 4 wickets for 18 runs, earning the pick of the bowlers. He was well supported by Thihan with 2 wickets, while Lakith and Chanaka chipped in with a wicket apiece. 🔥

Chasing 87 proved to be no straightforward task on a tricky wicket, but the Hawks showed patience and composure. Chamikara laid the foundation with a solid 30 runs at the top of the order, before the experienced pair of Lahiru and Najitha guided the team home, sealing victory in the 16th over.🫡

Another win on the board for the Black Hawks as we continue building momentum and set our sights on becoming champions once again. 💪🦅

Madushanka led from the front with the bat all season, producing consistent performances and delivering when the team needed him most.

Chamikara was a constant threat with the ball, combining control and wicket-taking ability to produce match-winning spells throughout the season.

🦅 🖤💛 Match Review | Black Hawks vs B2B Tigers 🐅🐅

Difficult day at the office for the Black Hawks who were Bowled out for 62 on a tricky wicket that proved tough for both sides.

Credit to B2B Tigers who got the job done, but the boys showed plenty of fight in the field, picking up 5 wickets and making them work for every run.

Debutants Hasitha and Sachintha showed great patience under pressure and looked to rebuild the innings with some gritty batting before their valiant efforts were cut short. 🫡

A tough result, but plenty of character shown by the Hawks in difficult conditions.

What started as a group of passionate cricketers coming together in Queensland Australia, has now grown into something truly special. Our team is made up of majority Sri Lankans who proudly represent our culture, values, and love for the game while competing in, ‘A Division’ sub-district and local competitions across South East Queensland.🔥

🦅 🖤💛 MATCH RESULT – BLACK HAWKS vs WARLOCKS CC 🔥

OFF WITH A BANG 💥

Black Hawks opened the season in dominant fashion with an absolute demolition of the Warlocks — the very side we were set to meet in last season’s grand final before rain got in the way. 👊

Batting first, the Hawks posted a strong 197, led by New skipper and the ever reliable, Madushanka with a brilliant 101 off 111 balls which included 8 Boundaries and 3 Sixes. Niranga provided the perfect start while finding some form with 40 at the top of the order, while Chamikara chipped in with an important 19 through the middle order to hold the innings together. 🫡

The bowlers then took over completely. The Warlocks were ripped apart for just 55 in a ruthless team performance. Debutant Thihan made an immediate impact with outstanding figures of 3/13, while spinner Malik also grabbed 3 wickets. Naresh and Lakith picked up 2 wickets each to close out the innings in quick time😮‍💨

The total of 55 is now officially the lowest score ever recorded by an opposition side against the Black Hawks — a new club record. 🔥

Congratulations to new skipper Madushanka and debutant Thihan for an incredible start to this campaign!!

A perfect start to the season as the Hawks look to carry this momentum forward and go one step better after finishing runners-up in each of the last three seasons 🏏 🏆

💛🖤 Season done and dusted !!! 🦅

An anticlimactic end to this year’s competition, with the Grand Final called off due to rain. As a result, the Black Hawks were named runners-up based on our position on the ladder at the end of the league stage.

While it wasn’t the finish we hoped for, the journey this group has been on deserves recognition. Reaching back-to-back A Division Grand Finals in two separate competitions is a testament to the commitment, resilience, and unity within the club 🔥

A special thank you goes to our captain Chanaka Liyanage for his leadership throughout the last couple of seasons. His dedication on and off the field has played a major role in guiding the Hawks to consecutive finals appearances👏🏻👏🏻

Thank you to the management and leadership group of the Black Hawks for continuing to move this club in a competitive and positive direction both on and off the field.

🦅 🖤💛 SEMI FINAL RESULT – BLACK HAWKS vs STALLIONS 🔥

What a statement win from the Black Hawks in the semi-final against the league-topping Stallions!

Batting first on an extremely tricky, turning wicket, the Hawks knew it wouldn’t be a day for flashy stroke play — it was about patience, discipline and smart cricket. Veteran opener Spinel read the conditions superbly, crafting a hard-earned 24 at the top of the order. Najitha later provided valuable support with a composed 24 of his own, ensuring the innings held together when it mattered most.

On a surface that offered plenty for the bowlers, every run was priceless — and the Hawks battled their way to a competitive 155.
What followed was an absolute bowling masterclass.

Leading the charge was Malik, who delivered a match-winning spell of 4/19 from 7 outstanding overs. Hitting the right areas consistently and exploiting the turn on offer, he dismantled the Stallions’ top order and set the tone for the innings. Backed by relentless pressure from the rest of the attack, the Hawks rolled the Stallions for just 72 runs in a stunning all-round display.

It was clinical. It was dominant. It was Black Hawks cricket at its best.

From grinding out runs in tough conditions to producing a ruthless bowling performance, this was a complete team effort.

Black Hawks now march into the Championship Final — a remarkable achievement for a team new to the competition. Knocking over the league leaders in a semi-final shows the belief, hunger and character within this group.

🦅 🖤💛 Match Review | Black Hawks vs Kuraby Knights ⚔️⚔️

What a way to wrap up the league stage 👏

Winning the toss and batting first, the Black Hawks produced their best batting performance of the season, piling on a commanding 276/8 from 50 overs.

Once again, the ever-reliable Madushanka was the backbone of the innings, playing a composed and classy knock of 90 not out*, anchoring the innings beautifully while valuable contributions came from all around him. A fitting end to the league stage as Madushanka finishes as the highest run-getter of the competition. 🏏

Chasing 277, the Kuraby Knights came out with positive intent, but they were soon met by the relentless Black Hawks bowling attack — the true heart and soul of this side. Chamikara led the charge with an outstanding five-wicket haul, applying constant pressure, while Chethana provided excellent support, snapping up two crucial wickets to shut the door on the chase. The Knights were eventually bowled out for 132.

Chamikara caps off a stellar league campaign as the leading wicket-taker with 20 wickets. 🔥

For a team playing its first season in the competition, securing a spot in the semi-finals is a massive achievement and makes this journey even more special. 💛🖤

🦅 🖤💛 Match Review | Black Hawks vs Brisbane Stallions 🐴

Unbeaten who? 👀

Black Hawks delivered a statement win against the Brisbane Stallions in a low scoring thriller!!

On a tricky wicket, Black Hawks bowlers were right on the money, restricting the Stallions to 124 all out in the first innings. Naresh and Chamikara bagged 3 wickets apiece proving yet again that they dont mess about in the middle, off spinners Najitha and Danesh chipped in with 2 wickets each to neatly wrap up the innings.

The chase wasn’t without drama. Early pressure saw the Hawks lose 4 top order wickets. Danesh then held the innings together with a patient 53, perfectly suited to the tough conditions. With wickets falling and nerves building late, crucial cameos from Spinel and Vidula guided the Hawks over the line, finishing the job 7 wickets down.

A gritty win that brings the Stallions’ unbeaten streak to an end 💥

One more round to go before we head into the knockouts. Bring it on. 🖤🦅
