THE SOURCING DIARIES — SEASON THREE 🇮🇳
DAY SEVEN

Jaipur, you really are something else. 🩷

Today had a little bit of everything.

Jewellery factories with Deepak and Ruchi, wholesale shopping for Trine and Sam, breakfast and dinner in the beautiful colonnade at Rajmahal… and one very special visit to City Palace.

Staying at Rajmahal meant we were able to enter through the royal entrance and get a little peek into areas reserved for the royal family.

Ruchi has been to City Palace MANY times and had never seen inside, so that made it feel even more special.

Then came PDKF, the Palace Atelier, a VERY late lunch at Baradari and, of course, a stop at Hawa Mahal.

And then back to Rajmahal to sit in the beautiful grounds and soak it all in.

I think that’s what I’ve loved most about this trip.

We’ve sourced. We’ve worked. We’ve visited factories. We’ve seen products actually being made.

But we’ve also properly experienced India.

And somehow we’re already at Day Seven of Nine. I genuinely don’t know where the time has gone. 🇮🇳

Day 6 🇮🇳 and we’ve officially made it to my favourite part of the trip… Jaipur 💕

There’s something about the Pink City that gets me every time.

We said goodbye to beautiful Udaipur (and Liz 😭), flew into Jaipur, squeezed in a visit to the Amrapali Museum and then checked into one of my favourite hotels in the world — Rajmahal Palace.

If I was a hotel, this would be it. 😂💗

A little exploring, a little shopping, a LOT of pink and one of the best meals of the trip at 51 Shades of Pink.

Not every day of a sourcing trip needs to be factories, samples and supplier meetings.

Tomorrow we’re back to work. And Jaipur is where things get really interesting… 👀

THE SOURCING DIARIES — SEASON THREE: INDIA
DAY FOUR

Day Four and today we said goodbye to Delhi and headed to Udaipur — the beautiful City of Lakes.

Now, I had told the ladies before this trip that the hotels were going to be NEXT level.

But I may have undersold this one.

We arrived to a shower of rose petals, traditional Indian music playing and quite honestly… complete silence from all of us.

This place had us speechless.

Once we’d picked our jaws up off the floor, we checked into our incredible suites, dumped the bags and headed straight for the pool.

Cocktails were ordered. Shoes were off. And after three very big days in Delhi, we finally stopped.

For a minute, anyway.

We were treated to a traditional dance performance by the pool before getting ready for the evening — where somehow things went up another notch.

Another incredible performance… except this time we ended up joining in.

There was an astrologer reading our futures — which obviously had everyone VERY invested.

And then we finished the night at The Alchemist, with the most incredible interiors and an absolutely delicious meal.

This is something I really wanted these sourcing trips to be.

Yes, we’re here to work.

We’re here to find suppliers, visit factories, develop products and make things happen for our businesses.

But we’re also in INDIA.

And I want us to actually experience it.

Day Four was less sourcing…

and a whole lot more magic.

THE SOURCING DIARIES — SEASON THREE 🇮🇳
DAY TWO

Okay India, you surprised us.

Today the whole crew headed to IMM in Delhi — a brand new trade fair being held for the very first time — and we genuinely didn’t know what to expect.

The standard was incredible.

But what I loved most wasn’t just the product. It was the people and the history behind it.

Businesses built over generations. Incredible manufacturing knowledge. Beautiful craftsmanship. And conversations you simply don’t get from sitting behind a laptop searching for suppliers.

Add in some rather fabulous VIP treatment, more factory visits for the members of the group who apparently hadn’t done enough sourcing for one day 😂 and a beautiful dinner to finish it all off.

This is why I love bringing people on the ground.

You see more.
You learn more.
You ask better questions.
And suddenly what might be possible for your business gets a whole lot bigger.

Day Two done.

One more very big day in Delhi to come… 🇮🇳

SOURCING DIARIES: INDIA 🇮🇳 DAY ONE

We landed in Delhi at 5am and apparently decided sleep was optional 😂

Quick shower, straight into the cars and Day One was underway.

And what a first day.

Seeing Trine’s fabric actually being produced, checking her Drop One production and reviewing Drop Two samples.

Watching Sandra see her samples in person for the first time and having them already incredibly close to right. Our team and the factory are now making the final changes so production ready samples will be waiting for her when we arrive in Jaipur.

Watching Kate walk through two factories and realise just how enormous the capabilities here actually are.

And one of my favourite little moments, arriving at Trine’s factory to discover they had set up a cot especially for baby Willa. 🥹

This is the part of sourcing I wish more product founders could see.

There is such a difference between emailing a factory from home and actually being here. Walking the floor. Touching the product. Meeting the people making it. Seeing what they can do. Fixing things in real time.

And having our incredible Source Haus India team beside us through all of it.

All of that was Day One.

We were absolutely exhausted by the end of it, but bloody hell it was a good start.

Day Two coming next 🇮🇳

I don’t think entrepreneur FOMO is really about wanting what someone else has.

It’s that little voice saying:

“If I don’t keep up, I’m going to get left behind.”

And suddenly someone else’s new tool, strategy, launch or success feels like something you should be doing too.

I’m trying to get much better at remembering:

I don’t need to keep up with everyone. I need to know where I’m going.

Please tell me I’m not the only one whose brain does this? 😂
