Huge thank you to everyone who dug in at our working bee this morning! 💪

So many jobs ticked off the list — it was amazing to see what can be achieved when the horsey community comes together.

There are still a few machinery and fencing jobs to go before we can welcome the horses back, but after a long journey since the floods, we’re finally so close to reopening our club grounds.

We can’t wait to share that moment with you all 🐎💚

📣📣 Working Bee ~ Saturday 7th Feb 📣📣
at the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre, starting at 8am to beat the heat.

Job list:
✳️ Clear w**ds from yards
✳️ Clear w**ds from round yard
✳️ Erect bunting / temporary fencing
✳️ Replace broken SJ arena fence posts
✳️ Remove rusted snap hooks from yards
✳️ Replace snapped-off screws in metal yard brackets (might need to be drilled out)

Please bring:
✴️ Hat, gloves, suitable footwear, sunscreen, drink bottles
✴️ Shovels / rakes
✴️ Push mower
✴️ Battery drill & drill bits
✴️ Sledgehammer for star posts
✴️ Post hole digger / pinchers
✴️ Any other tools required for general maintenance

Still looking for star post donations if anyone has any contacts or some lying around. We need approx 100 (5-6ft in length). White sighter wire donations also greatly appreciated 🙏

📣 SEC GROUNDS UPDATE 📣

SEC Executive have signed a new licence with MRCC for the next 2 years, and are awaiting final sign off processes now it’s returned to MRCC.

We have confirmation that the building replacement insurance has been approved, with like for like replacement of the building, toilet/shower amenities and shed footprints.

We are developing all the required safety and risk management protocols, ground usage protocols, and have another special SEC Executive meeting with MRCC next week to finalise these, with a very soon to be announced grounds reopening date.

There is still so much work to be done to make the grounds safe before the gates open for use.

The 3 user groups have been successful in sports rec grants. MAPC received funding to resurface the sand in the SJ arena. The adult rider grant is to resurface sand in the dressage arena and MHC grant is for red loam on grass arenas. The 3 user groups made sure they applied for ‘discipline specific’ activities to gain the grants, for the benefit of all 3 groups and SEC ground users.

So very positive steps forward to a 2025 reopening of the SEC grounds.

**Thanks to everyone who supported the clean up. We had great feedback. At this stage we aren’t required to complete the Saturday afternoon duties. **

Hi all,
SEC has been provided with an opportunity to raise some additional funds by supporting the Mildura Racing Club with the clean up before and after their 2 day race meet today (Friday 19th) and tomorrow (Saturday 20th).

We have completed the jobs listed for this morning but we are appealing for more support to help us tonight and on Saturday. (See job list and details on photos). Some of us will be heading down a bit earlier this afternoon (approx 4:30pm) but understand that people may need to arrive later due to work commitments.

Our PonyClub has been broken into and we are asking our Community to keep an eye out for the following items.
🧐Trailer 6x4 tipper trailer with cage olive green in colour
🧐Trailer 6x4 dark grey blue well used condition
🧐Large 4 metre flatbed trailer, no side oxidized steel
🧐1.5 metre Arena Rake bright yellow as new condition.
🧐Wheel barrow and tool

Mildura Alcheringa Ponyclub have organized a working Bee this Sunday 2nd June at the Sunraysia Equestrian Centre All user groups are welcome to attend. 9.30am Start 👩‍🌾
Jobs we need to get done:

🟢 Cleaning up near Racing Vic yards
🟢 Cleaning up & w**ding the round yards
🟢 Remove datura from dressage arenas.
🟢 Pulling apart eastern fence near dressage arena so it can be rebuilt.
🟢 Scavenger line/ emu bob of all the main areas to remove rubbish and chop out prickle bushes

Please bring shovels, rakes, mower, whipper snippets, gloves & eye protection.

Many thanks to the small but mighty team that turned up today (and special mention to Storm - who drove over from the Riverland to help!). We managed to chip the w**ds out of the Show Jumping arena, which was no small feat. No before photo (bu**er), but have very satisfying after photo. This arena is now ready to have the surface raked over. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Don’t forgot we have another Working Bee scheduled for next Saturday. We still have lots of jobs to tick off, including:

🔶 Weeding the Novelty arena
🔶 Picking up sticks / branches from dead trees
🔶 Mowing / whipper snipping around metal yards and round yard.

Every job we tick off is one step closer to re-opening. 🥳🐴
