• To continue the positive culture that is already present at SUFC

• To promote a strong stance on non-violent and positive role modelling for young people in the Swan community

🌟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 🌟

Each week, we’ll introduce a committee member so you can meet the people working behind the scenes to keep our club running.

Today we introduce you to our Vice President - Sonia Tuxworth

1. C𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟?
My name is Sonia Tuxworth. I am the Senior Vice President of Swan United. I have four boys who all played their junior and senior years at Swan. While they’ve now retired, it seems I haven’t!

𝟐. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝?
I’ve been involved with Swan United since the merge in 2008, and before that with Swan Districts. My kids started playing back in 2002 when we moved back to Australia from England. Over the years I’ve taken on a few roles, registrar, secretary, president and spent plenty of time behind the BBQ at Swan View Park.

𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛?
The amazing sense of community. I’ve made great friends and shared plenty of laughs along the way.

𝟒. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛’𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞?
I’d love to see us promoted back to State League. Each year our junior base continues to grow, which is fantastic. Growing up in a community sporting club helps shape some incredible people, keeping kids involved in sport for longer is a win for them and for the wider community.

𝟓. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?
Seeing all of my boys out on the park together in Swan colours would have to be right at the top.

🌟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 🌟

Each week, we’ll introduce a committee member so you can meet the people working behind the scenes to keep our club running.

Starting off strong with our President, Ben Kelly.

𝟏. 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟?
My name is Ben Kelly, I am currently the President of Swan United for both Seniors and Juniors. I am also a proud family man with a wife and two kids. My daughter currently plays in our U14s Girls team.

𝟐. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝?
I’ve been involved with the club since 2010. I was one of the first team coaches for our State league One side, where we finished second on the ladder and won the night series that year.

Over the years I have been in and out of the club due to work and time commitments but have always stayed connected and stepped in when needed. I have also played for the club from Metros teams through to State league and socials.
Last year I was elected Vice President and then President.

𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛?
For me its all about community. I love being around people who genuinely want to give back and create something positive for others. I love football, game days and seeing kids, players and parents enjoying themselves around the club.

𝟒. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐛𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞?
I want swan united to continue being a vibrant welcoming and family oriented club. Looking ahead I’d love to see our Juniors continue to be developed by our fantastic coaches and competing in the best leagues possible.
Id also love to see the club continue to grow across all areas including building a State women’s league program in the future.

𝟓. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?
I was fortunate to receive the Jimmy Jamison Volunteer of the year award, and in 2025 I was appointed a life membership. This was a huge honour (even if I feel a bit young to receive it)

⚫⚪ SWAN UNITED – SHOW YOUR COLOURS! ⚫⚪

Swan United FC President Ben Kelly recently had the honour of presenting a Swan United shirt to Stephen Coniglio during the launch of Calcio Italiano in Perth.

As one of the selected clubs aligned with Juventus for this exciting event, Swan United is proud to be part of bringing Italian football to Western Australia.

With Juventus heading to Perth this August, we’re encouraging all Swan United players, members, families and supporters to get behind the Bianconeri and proudly show the black and white colours that we wear week in and week out at Swan United.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our club to be part of a major football celebration and showcase the passion, pride and community spirit that makes Swan United special.

Let’s fill the stands, wear our colours with pride, and show Perth what the Swan United family is all about.

🎟 Tickets are selling fast, so get yours ASAP and be part of this incredible football festival.
