We are so proud of our โœจSuper Secretaryโœจ Jasmine Callan, who was recognised in the 2026 Female Football Week Awards for her service as a volunteer.

Northern NSW Football shared the following write up:
"Jasmine started playing football a year ago to share the experience with her son and is now club secretary of Metford Cobras. She quickly became central to the clubโ€™s operations, helping with everything from match day setup and canteen duties to equipment and parent coordination.

She is widely recognised for her kindness and welcoming nature, helping new families feel included and supported within the club.

Jasmine also created a womenโ€™s team from scratch, recruiting players to provide opportunities for beginners and returning players, significantly strengthening participation at the club."

Thank you, Jaz, for everything you do. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

We also want to congratulate the WINNER of the Volunteer of the Year award which was also a Hunter Valley Football member. Congratulations to Kaycee Conboy of Abermain Rams Football Club. Hunter Valley Football is lucky to have these two dedicated and talented women representing the region.

We have had a great response so far to our call for club refs so far, but one more would be ideal.

Club Refs are paid volunteers who help out when official refs are unavailable. Training is provided and paid for by our club.
If you're interested in becoming a Club Ref please reach out.

To round out Female Football Week, we wanted to celebrate the stories behind our All Age Womenโ€™s team โ€” the Cobra Queens ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ

At the start of the season, we nearly didnโ€™t have a womenโ€™s side at all.

Some hadnโ€™t played in years.
Some had never played competitively.
Some came from other sports.
Some were nervous, unsure, recovering from injury, juggling motherhood, or simply looking for somewhere to belong.

But somehow, this incredible bunch of women found each other.

Jean is 51 years old and playing football for the very first time ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Lisa returned to the Cobras after years away from the game and has become a leader within the team ๐Ÿ’›

Mia previously played high Grade football before injury interrupted her journey โ€” now sheโ€™s back enjoying the game again with the Cobra Queens ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Others are rediscovering confidence, rebuilding fitness, returning after having children, or simply doing something for themselves again.

Because for many women, life has a way of pushing passions into the background.

Careers get busy.
Families need them.
Time slips, and somewhere along the way, many women stop choosing themselves. Thatโ€™s what makes this team so special โœจ

The Cobra Queens have become more than just a football team. Theyโ€™ve become a space where women can reconnect with themselves again โ€” a place to laugh, compete, learn something new, make friends, rebuild confidence and rediscover their love for sport ๐Ÿ’™

What makes this group special isnโ€™t just the football.
Itโ€™s the support.
The encouragement.
The acceptance of women at different skill levels and different stages of life.
The courage to simply give it a go.

Whether itโ€™s your first season or your fifteenth, thereโ€™s a place for all women here ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

To our Cobra Queens โ€” thank you for taking the chance on this team, backing each other every week, and reminding us what community football is really about โšฝ
