To round out Female Football Week, we wanted to celebrate the stories behind our All Age Womenโs team โ the Cobra Queens ๐๐๐๐
At the start of the season, we nearly didnโt have a womenโs side at all.
Some hadnโt played in years.
Some had never played competitively.
Some came from other sports.
Some were nervous, unsure, recovering from injury, juggling motherhood, or simply looking for somewhere to belong.
But somehow, this incredible bunch of women found each other.
Jean is 51 years old and playing football for the very first time ๐๐ผ
Lisa returned to the Cobras after years away from the game and has become a leader within the team ๐
Mia previously played high Grade football before injury interrupted her journey โ now sheโs back enjoying the game again with the Cobra Queens ๐ช๐ผ
Others are rediscovering confidence, rebuilding fitness, returning after having children, or simply doing something for themselves again.
Because for many women, life has a way of pushing passions into the background.
Careers get busy.
Families need them.
Time slips, and somewhere along the way, many women stop choosing themselves. Thatโs what makes this team so special โจ
The Cobra Queens have become more than just a football team. Theyโve become a space where women can reconnect with themselves again โ a place to laugh, compete, learn something new, make friends, rebuild confidence and rediscover their love for sport ๐
What makes this group special isnโt just the football.
Itโs the support.
The encouragement.
The acceptance of women at different skill levels and different stages of life.
The courage to simply give it a go.
Whether itโs your first season or your fifteenth, thereโs a place for all women here ๐๐ผ
To our Cobra Queens โ thank you for taking the chance on this team, backing each other every week, and reminding us what community football is really about โฝ
