I Can Run

I Can Run How many times have you said "I can't run"? When you see those people out there running marathons do you wonder how they do it? I can help.

I can help you accomplish your running goals or even just get you started. I've been running for over 10 years now. I started for my own mental health, and I liked it so much that all the benefits have flowed through to my physical health as well. I recall challenging myself to run up that first flight of steps by the beach. Just like you, I sometimes find it hard to motivate myself to exercise, g

etting up before 5am for a long run is not all that appealing in 12 degrees. I look back on the all the fun times I've had with running, from completing my first fun run to my last marathon and to every weeks training sessions. If you want to improve your running economy, improve your mental & physical well-being, if you like the idea of being able to run your first 5km non-stop or are looking towards something longer or faster, then get in touch with me. I am a fully qualified Level 2 Recreational Run Coach through Athletics Australia.

It's been a busy month, the program is going well and the days are counting down. This week we complete the last of our training long runs, 36km and 16km for the half. Next week we will taper off with less km's in prep for the big day. Looking forward to Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival.

As we move through our weekly training schedule we increase the load progressively. The benefits of progressive overload are incremental increases in stamina, distance, recovery, and avoidance of fatigue & injury.

I think it might be time for a new hat? Its a habit I guess, I don't like to get rid of things, especially when they have seen me through some challenges. This hat has been with me through lots of training days and fun runs. Since 2015 or before. Are some old habits holding you back from achieving those running or fitness goals? PM me and I'll help you shake them. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ‘Ÿ

So as those mornings are getting fresher, it becomes harder to motivate yourself to get out and train. Which highlights the topic, are you a morning, midday or afternoon trainer? I'm a morning trainer, I just like to get it done before my day begins.

What is interesting though, is that science shows us that although we are at our peak mentally in the morning, our body is nowhere near it's peak performance. As the day progresses our body warms up, muscles become more supple and our lung capacity increases; this all contributes towards a better running performance. The downside to this though is, as the day wears on mental fatigue starts to settle in. And although physically our bodies will be at their peak performance to set new records, mentally it will be challenging to 'get out there' and take the world on; especially after a long day of working.

Whatever your preference time for running (or training), there are pros and cons to each. Just remember to look after yourself, and listen to your body; it knows you best.

If you want to add some running to your training or achieve new stages in your running goals, PM me. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ‘Ÿ
