Often the hardest part of getting fit is just getting started!

Regular aerobic exercise (cardio) has been linked to a significantly lower risk of death from flu or pneumonia, even at weekly levels lower than those recommended.

A U.S. research team used data from 577,909 adults from 1998 to 2018 and found that those who met the recommended level of cardio and muscle workouts decreased the risk by half. Only partially meeting the recommended requirements was associated with a 36% lower risk.

So don’t let winter derail your workouts, particularly your cardio. There is plenty you can do at home with limited space to decrease your risk factors. We can show you how!

So, what is functional training?

Still feeling the effects of all those Easter eggs and hot cross buns? This calorie blasting workout will have you feeling better in no time … well, after you finally get your breath back.

After a 3-5 minute warm up:

2 burpees, 2 push ups, counting up by 1 to 10 burpees, 10 push ups

Rest 30 secs

10 air jacks, 10 plyo lunges, counting down by 1 to 2 air jacks, 2 plyo lunges

Rest 30 secs

10 squat jumps
10 tuck jumps
20 dips
50 mountain climbers
20 crunches
30 sec rest x 3 sets

And don’t forget to stretch!

Weight training at 8 am Saturday morning will proceed as normal.

Mixed resistance will move from 6.30 pm to 9 am on Easter Monday only.

The normal timetable will resume from Tuesday, 11 April 2023.
