❤️🤍💙COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT💙🤍❤️
We’re excited to announce our junior football coaching team, with Beekers stepping into the Head Coach role, supported by Dylan and Jake as Assistant Coaches!
🏉 HEAD COACH – BEEKERS
Originally a Tatura junior and senior player, Beekers played across the midfield and backline, captained the Under 18s and finished runner-up in the Under 16s Best & Fairest. He also spent time at MFC in 2004 and 2005, developing a liking for KDL footy and the strong club culture that comes with it.
With leadership experience across both football and cricket, Beekers has coached junior cricket for two seasons, Tatura Fourths in 2021, and spent the past four seasons as a senior bench coach at Merrigum and Tatura.
With connections to Merrigum’s Thirds players both before and after their 1991 premiership, he's looking forward to getting stuck in, starting something new and working alongside a quality group of helpers!
🏉 ASSISTANT COACH – DYLAN
A familiar name around the club, Dylan brings plenty of Merrigum junior football experience and a strong connection to the red, white and blue!
Starting at the club as a 12-year-old in 2012, Dylan played 99 junior games for Merrigum, including being part of our 2016 Under 18s premiership side. He went on to win the Under 18s Best & Fairest, captain the 2018 team and represent at interleague level.
Now a senior player, Dylan is keen to rip in and give back to the club by helping develop the next generation of Merrigum footballers.
🏉 ASSISTANT COACH – JAKE
Jake brings a wealth of coaching experience, having played junior football at Diamond Creek and Greensborough, spent time in the Northern Knights program and played senior football at Hurstbridge.
His coaching journey began at Laurimar, where he coached the club's inaugural Under 19s side across three seasons, reaching two grand finals.
Since moving to the area in 2024, Jake coached Tongala's Under 16s and assisted with their Under 17s in 2025. His Under 16s group reached the preliminary final despite being largely made up of bottom-aged players.
Jake has also spent time on club committees and is currently helping Merrigum with recruiting. For Jake, coaching is about more than just football; it's about helping young men develop life skills, build confidence and mature into good people.
We're thrilled to have Beekers, Dylan and Jake on board and look forward to seeing what they can bring to our junior football program!
