Thankyou to everyone who attended our 7th Mernda Chess Club tournament! We had a tough competition with some very strong players, and plenty of beginners too. Congratulations to our medal winners!

There were 4 other players on 5 points, with rankings decided by tie-break score.

All are welcome to attend our Wednesday night casual chess sessions, running every Wednesday 6.30pm to 8.00pm at the Mernda Village Community Center. Use the carpark at the rear (north side), the chess sessions are in the building nearest to the carpark, not the main building on Everton Dr.

The 2025 Victorian Junior Chess Championships will be running from July 17 - 20 this year, at Bacchus Marsh Grammar School.

This is open to all juniors up to 18 years.

Thankyou to everyone who participated in the 6th Mernda Chess Club Tournament! We had 33 players with some tough competition and hard-fought games!

The clear winner was Elpidio, undefeated throughout the tournament, with Nethupul coming in second with 6 points. 3rd place was Mohan with 5 points decided by tiebreak, also tieing with some strong younger players Saheli and Aadhya Sai, as well as Patrick.

NO CHESS CLUB today:

Due to Planned works at Mernda Village Community centre Mernda Chess Club will be Cancelled today. The construction will begin in the kinder building and continue to the main hall and foyer. The contractor anticipates the hall upgrade to start on Monday 8 July.

There will be medals for U16, U12 and U8 age groups, as well as Open.

Registrations have opened for the Oceania Zonal Blitz Tournament! This is a 9 round tournament starting on Thursday 26th January at 9 am. Time control is 3+2 (3 minutes starting, plus 2 seconds per move). Entry fee is $30.
