I had my 2nd triathlon competition today, and it came with a big lesson.
During the 750m swim, about 400m in, I panicked. I’m not exactly sure why — but my breathing changed, my thoughts spiralled, and my body reacted. I was frustrated because I know I’m capable. I know I can swim further than that. It reminded me just how powerful — and sometimes challenging — the mind can be.
But here’s the important part: I didn’t quit.
I kept going. I finished the race. And I went on to have a strong bike (27km) and run (5km), even in cold, windy conditions.
I’m frustrated, yes — but I’m also proud. Proud that I showed up. Proud that I faced discomfort. Proud that I kept moving forward when things didn’t go to plan.
This experience reminded me that progress isn’t about perfect performances — it’s about resilience. It’s about learning, adapting, and coming back stronger. I’ll sign up for the next race in February, because the water doesn’t define me. One tough moment doesn’t erase months of work.
And I truly believe this applies to all of us.
Training isn’t just about physical strength — it’s about mental strength, confidence, and trust in your body. Some days feel easy, some feel hard, and some feel messy — but every time you show up, you’re building something deeper than muscle.
If you have a capable body, why not try?
Why not move, challenge yourself, and see what you’re made of — in your own way, at your own pace. Growth lives just outside our comfort zone, and every small step counts.
Let’s keep showing up, keep believing, and keep pushing boundaries — even when it feels uncomfortable 💗👊
