A Fitting Honour for a True Clubman – Terry Hart
The Meredith Cricket Club is incredibly proud to recognise one of our own, with the announcement that the Geelong Cricket Association (GCA) has officially named the Division 4 Grand Final Best on Ground Medal in honour of Terry Hart.
This is a tribute that speaks volumes.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to cricket at both club and association level, the GCA made the decision to honour Terry by etching his name into one of the competition’s most prestigious individual awards. It is a mark of the respect he has earned across the entire competition — not just within our club, but throughout the broader cricket community.
Terry’s story with the Meredith Cricket Club is one of lifelong dedication. Debuting as an 11-year-old in 1975, he has gone on to build a remarkable career spanning generations. Since being awarded Life Membership in 1995, Terry has continued to embody everything the club stands for.
Across that journey, his on-field achievements have been nothing short of outstanding — playing over 450 games and claiming more than 830 wickets, placing him among the true greats of the club.
But his impact goes far beyond the boundary.
For 40 years, Terry has been a dedicated member of the Meredith Cricket Club committee, helping shape the club into what it is today. His contribution off the field has been just as significant as his performances on it — a true servant of the club in every sense.
He represents everything a cricket club stands for — loyalty, toughness, humility, and a deep love for the game. Week in, week out, Terry set the standard and made those around him better.
To have the Grand Final’s best player recognised in his name is a fitting legacy. It ensures that every season, on the biggest stage, Terry Hart’s name will be synonymous with excellence under pressure.
It’s a proud moment for the Meredith Cricket Club, and a richly deserved honour for a man who has given so much.
Congratulations, Terry — your legacy is now forever part of our club’s history and the wider GCA competition.
