Pilates and bodybuilding work hand in hand because the stronger and more controlled my foundation is, the better my lifts become. The work I do on the mat directly shows up under the bar — especially in movements where depth, stability, and glute recruitment matter.

One of my favourite examples is the crossed‑leg spine twist. It looks simple, but it trains the exact qualities you need for glute‑focused weight training. The twist teaches you to anchor your hips, control your ribcage, and rotate through your spine without losing tension in your lower body. That same control is what lets you sit deeper into a hack squat without collapsing your chest or shifting out of your glutes. Better rotation equals better bracing, better bracing equals better depth, and better depth equals better glute development.

This is another way Pilates helps me as a bikini bodybuilder — it keeps my lifts cleaner, my hips more mobile, and my glutes firing exactly where I want them. And it helps my posing be as seamless as possible also.

As a bikini bodybuilder and Pilates instructor,

Here’s why I make time to participate in our classes even when I’m not the instructor:
1) because it support the parts of my training that heavy lifting can’t.
2) Pilates helps me recover between strength sessions by improving circulation, releasing tightness, and keeping my joints moving well.
3) It also gives me the mobility and control I need for posing — smoother transitions, better flexibility, and a stronger mind‑body connection.

This is the work that keeps my physique not just built, but balanced.

The past couple weeks I’ve been figuring out how to blend my old Pilates YouTube channel with my fitness and health content.

It’s challenging to try get the blend right without any part overpowering the other.

What a start to the morning.

Hearing the different birds carry on about halfway through our Mat Pilates class at and then walk out to this beautiful gal/guy on the pavement.
