Melville 1983 Premiership team special reunion

July 23 is our first ever reunion for our under 16s Premiership team of 1983. It has been 40 years since we won our AMAZING PREMIERSHIP.
In the final game of the season before the finals we were beaten by 100 points by Lynwood...the very team we beat in the Grand final by 51 points.
Look forward to seeing everyone there including the amazing coaches.

1983 40th anniversary Melville under 16's Premiership REUNION.

I am really happy and excited to announce July 23 Sunday 1.30pm -3pm at Melville Junior football club.

Just like any premiership team requires a team effort, I am seeking a full team effort from all past players to be at this once in a lifetime reunion. Life is about cherishing the moments and the memories. It doesn't matter how much money you have at the end of your life - the only thing you can take with you are memories of experiences in life.
Both our very special coaches Wayne Bilton and Ted Richardson will be there.
We will be discussing the 1983 year that unfolded, and how we won a premiership and much more. It is quite extraordinary and may even be a first time ever that a junior team has won a premiership with only 7 wins and 1 drawn match after 16 rounds.

Please note there is no alcohol served.
Light refreshments will be organised.
A 17's match is on at 3pm, and those who wish to stay on and watch may do so.

I can't wait to see you all there.

2023 will mark the 40th Anniversary of the 1983 under 16's Melville Junior football club premiership team.
The location and date yet to announced, but will be during the football season 0f 2023. The location will most likely be the Melville junior ground itself in the club room, on a Sunday with light supper/ refreshments...the same day the 16's/ 17's will be playing.
I will be really looking forward to seeing my old team mates after many years.
Lets get behind this...we only live once.
We will be sharing the memories of that season.
I will be compiling as much information as possible for a small presentation. I will be calling on the coaches to also put together some history of the season during a presentation.
Feel free to also contribute...if anyone has any photos etc or even freakishly 'video', please bring it along.

1983 premiership player trophy and BOG trophy in the 16's Grand final August 28 Melville v Lynwood at East Fremantle Oval.

The Grand finals of 1983. We were at 12.45pm East Fremantle oval on August 28.
The legend at East Fremantle, Len Anderson( listed 1st on field umpires), sadly passed away September 8, 2019. Len used to umpire our games that season as well as other seasons, and was involved a lot at EFFC. One of the most memorable moments for me with Len was when he walked into the clubrooms after we played Attadale during the season at Troy Park, and he quietly told me "I gave you 3 votes today Whytey." Ha ha, I thought holy moly, here is an umpire telling me has given me some votes.
