I’m incredibly honoured and humbled to share that at the recent 80th Anniversary celebration for World Taekwondo Jidokwan — the world headquarters of our traditional Taekwondo lineage — I was awarded my 9th Degree Black Belt.
It’s difficult to fully express what this recognition means to me. Achieving 9th Dan is something only a very small number of people in Australia, and around the world, will ever reach. For me, it represents a lifetime devoted to the practice, study, and sharing of Taekwondo.
My journey has never been just about personal achievement. One of the greatest privileges of my life has been guiding and inspiring so many students through Melton Taekwondo Centre, and watching them grow in confidence, discipline, and character as they pursue their own goals.
I was also fortunate to be involved in the early development of Taekwondo in Australia, working with our national and state bodies to help establish the foundations and standards of the art in this country, while forming many lifelong friendships along the way.
The 9th Degree Black Belt is the highest rank a martial artist can attain in Taekwondo during their lifetime, and I feel deeply grateful to have reached this milestone.
Thank you to all the students, families, instructors, and supporters who have been part of this journey over the years. I’m proud of what we have built together and look forward to continuing to share and grow the art of Taekwondo for many years to come.
