Finals Week 2:

The Div 2 Falcons headed back to Werribee last night in persuit of a premiership.

*PRELIM FINAL*

The game against Werribee started well with the Falcons winning the toss and electing bat. The first pair of wazz + Treva got things off to flyer putting in 47, Joey + Trent came in second and ground out 13, Paul + Collo smashed 48 and Wayne + Yates rounded things out with 33 to give them a very good total of 141 to defend. The bowling and fielding was on point and didn't let up through the whole innings, with Werribees first pair making 25, the second pair making 18, third pair 9 and lastly 28 for a total of 80, the Falcons winning by 61 runs and earning a spot in the GF against Pirates!

Wazza 26 + 2/3 (+23)
Treva 21 + 2/1 (+20)
Collo 20 + 2/2 (+18)

*GRAND FINAL*

The toss was win again and again the Falcons chose to bat, in the hopes of adding scoreboard pressure.

Wazz + Trev started things with a slightly wobbly 18, Collonand Pauly clubbed 40 unfortunately on the last ball Collo went down with a groin injury which ended his night. Joey and Ben scratched their way to 3, Wayne and Yates finished things off with 23 giving the Falcons 84 to play with, not as much as they'd hoped for but runs in the board and being a final, funny things can happen. The bowling and fielding was again on point for the most part, although they definitely missed Collo in the field and with the ball. Pirates first pair made 22, the second made 12 and at the half way mark, the Falcons were in front. Pirates 3rd pair made 22, leaving the final pair 29 to win.
Some tight bowling meant that after 3 overs pirates had 21 and needing 8 off the final over, which was bowled by a bowler they were able to choose with the injury to Collo, scores were level on the last ball but unfortunately the Falcons were unable to get a wicket, pirates winning by 4 runs to take the title in what was a great game if cricket all round.

It was a massive effort from the Falcons to do it the hard way from 3rd to make the GF and then go down in a very close game in the GF. Great work boys, and great season 💪.

Hi all.

Div 2 are heading back to Werribee tomorrow night to continue their finals campaign for 2024. A knockout final v Werribee is up first at 7:30pm, a win will see them progress to the Grand final v Pirates at 9:00pm.

It's all or nothing 💪

If you're in the area or simply interested in seeing a tough indoor cricket contest which is sure to be spectacle to watch, pop into Werribee indoor sports tomorrow night and support the team 👌.

DIV 2 finals wrap...

THe div 2 guys were in the same position as the div 3 guys, needing to win to survive.

Knights batted first and got out of the blocks quickly, the first pair coming out on 35. The Falcons rallied, keeping the next 3 pairs to 31 total, the knights finishing on 66, a lowish total, but in finals anything can happen.

The Falcons started slowly, first skin to the Knights, Melton making 9. A solid second and 3rd pair had Melton up 2 skins to 1 and needing 7 from the last pair to win. Things didn't go exactly as hoped, with the Falcons scraping over the line by 7 runs.

They will be looking for a much more polished performance next week as they take on Werribee first up, needing to win for a shot at the grand final against Pirates.

Div 3 finals wrap...

Div 3 batted first against Hurricanes, putting on a total of 67. Not as much as they would have hoped for, but runs on the board can be handy, especially in finals. It was fairly even at the half way mark of the Hurricanes inningsbsonitbwas still game on.
They falcons were still in it with the last hurricanes pair needing 10 to win, but unfortunately things didn't go the Falcons way, Hurricanes eventually getting over the line by 22.

It was a massive effort by the boys considering they hadn't won a game until they won the last 3 home and away games in a row to sneak themselves into the finals at the last minute.

Bad luck gents.

After last nights amazing effort from the div 3 guys, the Falcons will have both div 2 and div 3 in finals next Friday the 23rd 💪.

Both games will be played at Werribee and both at 7:30pm.

What a night!

The div 3 boys have come from absolutely nowhere to snag a spot in the finals!!

After an extremely tough season for them, they played their best cricket of the season at the right time to win both games at home tonight and sneak into 4th 💪.

The Div 3 falcons play their last 2 home and away games of the season tomorrow night against Pirates and Nth Geelong. They are still a mathematical chance of sneaking into finals so it promises to be an exciting night of cricket! Their games are at home at 7:00pm + 8:15pm. Div 2 were back in action last night at home for their last round of home and away games.

It was a convincing victory first up, follow by a disappointing loss.

They have finished 3rd on the ladder and will take on Knights in the first week of finals.

Div 3 made the trip to Northcote last night with hopes of getting themselves into a position to potentially make finals, unfortunately the results didn't go their way but they still remain an outside chance of making it with 2 games to go 💪.
