17K from a freebie. Yes, that’s what my lovely client generated in four weeks with one great free lead magnet. 🧲

So, how’d she do it?

⭐️ She knew what her clients want and she created it
⭐️ Then she shared it which was easy because it didn’t feel like marketing - she was literally going to her audience saying, ‘ta da!’
⭐️ People downloaded it and started either inquiring or booking calls and sessions
⭐️ Other professionals asked if they could share it

Now that she has a tool she knows works, she’s not stressed about finding clients. But she IS now focussing on setting up other systems to help with demand. Gosh, the work never ends 🤷‍♀️🤣💖

If you’re needing to boost your visibility and get inquiries or bookings, this can absolutely work for you too. In fact, why not make it your project for the October 90 Day Sprint?!

I’ll pop a link to the Sprint info in the comments for anyone that’s interested ⭐️

One of my clients booked in last week and because I know she loves loves loves strategy, I was all poised to listen and help her create one. I love our calls! But she threw me for a loop.

Instead of spending the time focussing on what she wanted or needed to do like we had in the past, this time it was as if she was a different person. She looked brighter, she was smiling a lot, and she seemed really laid back which is unlike her.

Right away I asked her what was going on and she shared stories about going away camping a bunch of times, date nights and dinners with luxury hotel stays and how she’s excited to do some PD soon in person (rather than webinar) and is taking hubby with her and again, booked accom that she can’t wait to experience when they go.

This went on, story after story, for almost the full session before I asked her how she’s been going with the last round of goals for the practice. While there’d been improvement, it had been slower than expected because she was ‘enjoying more time with her family’ ie trips away. She has a history of very bad burnout last year and something like camping for days a time on a regular basis would never have crossed her mind to do then. Now though, she’s loving it. She said she’s got balance back in her life.

Then she said, “Yeah, and Brooklyn, the business has paid for everything! The trips, accommodation, transport, everything!”

And there it was.

Sometimes we think the goal is going to be more clients, more sessions, etc but if we only look at those, we miss out on the rest of the evidence that what we’re doing IS working! She didn’t have ‘go camping every other weekend’ on her quarterly plan. Being able to get her life back has been a side effect of her doing the challenging, boring, tedious and oftentimes frustrating things like creating systems, like fixing the website, like doing the admin when we first began working together. In fact one of the initial things we did was a full systems audit of her practice.

Good systems and processes are what give you more of the things you want. But if you’ve never run a practice before, how could you be expected to know what they are? So instead, you’re left flying by the seat of your pants which can be both scary and risky.

So, this week, do a systems audit on your practice. Look at what you have, how effective it is and what needs be refined then get to it. Your future Self 6-12 months from now will thank you for it 🤩

I was asked yesterday what the fastest way to get clients is. It’s a great question.

The fastest way can be paid ads but conditions apply that I’ll explain in a moment. Whether it’s Google or Meta, they work by getting more people to your ie website / offer. This is referred to as paid advertising.

The other type is called organic. It takes longer but the quality of the audience you build tends to be better because got to know you.

There are so many different types of organic marketing. There’s social media, email, websites, directory listings, word-of-mouth, professional networking, the list goes on.

So, back to conditions applying. In order for either approach to work, the website needs to be converting. The most important part of the website is the homepage, right at the top before you start scrolling. It’s often also called the hero section because it does all the heavy lifting.

This is what your visitors usually see first. If it doesn’t resonate with them, they click off and look at the next practitioner’s website. You can see if this happening by looking at your bounce rate (on Google Analytics). If the bounce rate is high, it’s often a sign the messaging likely needs updating.

A benchmark for conversions is about 2-5% for an optimised website which is why ads can be helpful. Two to five percent of 3000 visitors is a lot more than for 300. Ads = volume.

AI currently sends less than 1% of your visitors however, they convert at 12%. The huge difference is because of things like buyer intent and quality of referral. For example if ChatGPT gives you the recommendation, it likely knows you and can therefore find a match that may suit you better.

Apart from paid ads, the next fastest pathway to referrals is networking. Two or three good referrers can be enough to keep the practice afloat. But you do need to look after people and cultivate your relationships with them.

The third fast way to get clients for your private practice is to share information about the business in local Facebook community pages if they allow it.

Your website is not ‘the marketing’. It’s where your marketing sends people and it’s for generating leads, building an audience and converting a couple of visitors to clients. It alone usually isn’t enough. Active marketing is required.

So know you know three of the fastest ways to get clients that are working now but for them to work, the website needs to be set up to do its job for you otherwise there’s no point paying for ads or spending time you don’t have doing active marketing. Start with the website first and you’ll have set yourself up for success 😊

So there's a big difference between having a to-do list and a list of things to do that get you toward your goal.

If you've ever found yourself braindumping before work about all the things that need to be done, doing them around your client work and finishing the day feeling exhausted but like nothing's changing, you're not alone. It happens. It happens to me sometimes too.

Which is why I knew I had to do something about it. So, I made myself what I'm calling a results map but you could call it anything you like. It essentially gets me to think about the quarterly goal for the practice, then walks me back through it so I know what to do each week or day to achieve it. But, because it's me, I had to include something else for it to have any chance of working....

A buffer. Hyperfocus has it's benefits, not gonna lie but it can definitely get in the way of a good goal sometimes. So, my map includes some cushioning so I don't berate myself for not achieving things when I 'think' I should have and can save myself a dose of imposter syndrome.

It's been soooooo helpful to use and because I've noticed a bit of a pattern with lovely people in our space recently, of being really busy, doing lots of thing but feeling like they aren't getting anywhere, that I decided to just share it with you.

I'll pop the link below. If you're working with me currently, you'll be able to share your map with me for support and accountability too as I've included a button in the tool for you to do exactly that.

Hope it helps
💜

46% increase in revenue in her second year of business as a result of business mentoring. But it wasn’t smooth sailing and one of the biggest challenges for her was looking at the numbers.

Because, sometimes it just feels better if you don’t. Especially if you’re new to business. You know you’re not seeing clients yet so there’s really no point tracking KPIs because there’s nothing to track, right? Wrong.

For the women I work with, it’s not uncommon to lead from the heart. It’s also not uncommon when you’re new in business to make the numbers (or apparent lack of them) mean something about you, your worth or value, about your lack of progress and more. So I get it. It’s easier to just not look.

But…when you learn about the numbers, you see that they tell a story and you’re not the leading lady (sorry). They provide you with the direction you’ve been looking for. They help you by removing the guesswork and all the bright shiny object syndrome that can come with it. Now it’s no longer about you and it’s all about the next step. It’s very empowering.

It was the same for this lovely client. Once she learned about them, her business took off and over time, her questions went from, ‘what do you think I should do?’ to ‘what else should I be tracking?’ and ‘why wasn’t this covered in my course??’

To get started, begin with a few essentials. For therapists, this might be tracking inquiries, bookings, cancellations. If you don’t have clients yet, track your marketing. What marketing are you doing? How often? On what platforms? What posts performed best last month? How many included a call to action? How many downloads were there? How many opt-ins? Things like that. Even just starting with a few is a great first step and you’ll be able to add more over time.

It was equal parts tracking, courage and chocolate that provided this client with the direction she’d been missing and look at the result. I mean, what would increasing your income by 46% in one year mean for you? For your family? For your clients?

I’m offering brief and extended consultations where we can look at your business, goals and challenges and map out a plan for your next steps. Links are in the first comment.
