The pregnancy “waddle” can be a common adaptation to a rapidly changing body - but there’s more going on than just your bump getting in the way 👀

As pregnancy progresses, you’re navigating:
→ Changes in pelvic position + mechanics
→ A shifted centre of mass
→ Changes in ligamentous laxity
→ Greater demands on your hips + pelvis
→ Changes in your abdominal + pelvic floor system

And hip internal rotation is one movement capacity worth maintaining ❤️‍🩹 It gives you more options to move, rotate and load as your body changes.

Hip IR is trainable - and no, you don’t need to accept feeling stiff and restricted just because you’re pregnant.

Unpopular opinions about postpartum bodies, incoming…

We see it constantly - women told their core is “fixed” once their gap closes, or that pelvic floor work is some separate box to tick, or handed “just listen to your body” as an actual rehab plan.

None of that is good enough. Not for you, not for your training, not for your recovery.

Your body deserves to be treated as a whole system, backed by real anatomical knowledge - not isolated parts.

Comment “READY” for your Postpartum Core Checklist.

Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE a cute onesie…

But let’s not forget that education is power - and it can shape how we move through pregnancy, support our mental wellbeing, and adapt to our new life as ‘mum’.

Here’s what the research says - largely drawn from systematic reviews & meta-analyses that pool multiple studies to look at the overall body of evidence…

Maternal exercise…
PMID 40519261 — benefits mother & baby
PMID 30337465 — reduces the risk of macrosomia
PMID 36156844 — lowers the risk of gestational diabetes & hypertension
PMID 39500542 — reduces the odds of postpartum depression by ~45%

Of course, every pregnancy is different. But for uncomplicated pregnancies, this is what’s possible!

Because knowledge isn’t just power. It’s confidence. And confidence helps us move from a place of choice, not fear.

Bras not fitting like they used to postpartum?
Do your ribs feel like they’re sticking out?
Dealing with persistent low-back tightness?

Your starting point might not be another core exercise! 😮‍💨

Sometimes the ribcage is sitting more forward and you’ve lost some of the ability to expand through your back when you breathe.

If we only focus on strengthening the abs without addressing ribcage position, breathing & pressure management, we may be missing part of the picture.

Think: create space → improve pressure management → add strength.

P.S. Rib flare can have multiple contributing factors - this is just one piece of the puzzle.

The C-section “shelf” isn’t always just about fat or loose skin. 👀

It’s the ledge or overhang that can form just above your scar & while there can be a few factors at play…scar tissue & restrictions between tissue layers can contribute to its appearance.

Think of your scar like a knot tied in a T-shirt - it doesn’t just affect the fabric in the knot, it pulls on the fabric around it too! That’s why we mobilise not just the scar, but the surrounding tissue.

Scar mobility timeline:

🔹 1–3 wks: gentle desensitisation around the scar
🔹 3–6 wks: mobilisation around the scar
🔹 6+ wks: mobilisation directly on the scar (once the incision is healed/able to tolerate friction)
🔹 Later-stage scars: additional scar therapies where appropriate (e.g. cupping, light-based therapies)

Remember, everyone heals differently - timelines are a guide, not a rulebook 💛

Which one do you agree with most? 👀

Love this trend - because honestly, it’s chic to care about our perinatal needs, boundaries and bodies.

To move through pregnancy feeling strong. To prepare for birth. To feed your baby however works for you. To actually rehab postpartum. To ditch “bounce back” culture. And to know that motherhood doesn’t mean giving up the things that make you feel like you.

Pregnancy and postpartum deserve more than just “getting through it”.
Expecting better for ourselves? Very chic, actually 💅🏼

We’ve spent years treating the 6-week check-up like a finish line before women are “allowed” to move 🖐🏼

But the research tells a different story.

➝ Instead of asking, “Can I move before 6 weeks postpartum?”...
➝ A better question is, “What type of movement is appropriate for me right now?”

For most women, recovery doesn’t mean 6 weeks of rest.

It means gradually reintroducing movement in a way that respects healing, symptoms, and individual circumstances ❤️‍🩹

This isn’t about rushing back to exercise.

It’s about moving away from fear-based advice and towards evidence-based guidance.

Shoutout to researchers like who are helping move postpartum care forward with the evidence women deserve 🤍

*Medical circumstances can of course vary - so it’s always important to discuss your individual situation with your healthcare team.
