Solid hit-out from Rhys at the Winton test day Saturday. Completed 42 laps, felt more comfortable in the car, and improved his times consistently throughout the day. Winton Test Day underway ..

We had a mix of conditions over the weekend for Round 4 at Sandown, and overall it was a very successful mission.
Rhys had 3 practise sessions, then qualified 16/22 at his first-ever event and first time on the track.
Had a few issues getting off the start in the races, had a couple of spins, but still ended up posting some good times.
He got a good amount of time behind the wheel, made some classic overtakes in Race 3, and most importantly had a ball. He is itching to get back in the seat.
Next, August 22 Test Day at Winton before Round 5, October 2 - 4 again at Winton

QUALIFYING WRAP

With a Victorian state title on the line this weekend, Andre Curin has given himself a boost towards retaining the title with pole this morning - with a healthy four tenths margin to title leader Ash Quiddington. Blake Purvis carried over his recent good form in South Australia with a solid 3rd place.

Nathan Jones posted his best qualifying result of the season with 4th, ahead of Mallacai and Ash Clifford. Brock Hamilton might be second in the state standings behind Quidda, but will have some work to do starting from 7th this afternoon.

Grant, Mitch Quiddington and Cameron Bell round out the top 10 qualifiers ahead of a gaggle of cars from Akurra Motorsport, including newcomer Rhys Lagos for his first event of the season. Declan Collison spent several minutes in the pits during qualifying and didn't set a properly representative lap, so expect him to move forward from 19th.

A healthy field of 22 vees are set for race 1 at 1:17pm this afternoon.

Recent testing showed Rhys to be in top 15 % of kids his age for force production statically on a mid-thigh pull.
