AVSL returns today!
We were missing our caption earlier but that won't stop Victoria's premiere athletics competition from rolling on! Our Summer Squad are back in action today, taking on the first of ten rounds of the Athletics Victoria Shield League. Held at a range of venues, with each round at 2 metro and 3 regional centres, AVSL gives athletes the opportunity to compete against the best in Victoria.

Today's metro venues include Murrumbeena and Doncaster. We'll be sharing results and photos as they come in, best of luck to our competitors today!

Melbourne Marathon Running Festival 2026 🏃‍♀️

Another amazing weekend of running saw 7 Yarra athletes take on the 10km, Half Marathon and Marathon!

Saturday – 10km
Harry, Liv and Kat got the party started on Saturday, and what a day it was!
Harry put together his best race of the season, clocking a blistering 29:45 to finish 9th. Liv continued her fine form, narrowly missing the sub-35-minute mark with 35:08, her second-fastest time over the distance, for an impressive 8th place. Kat had the run of her life, smashing her PB and breaking 38 minutes for the first time with an outstanding 37:16! 🔥

Sunday – Marathon & Half Marathon
Sam A, Adrian and Michael took on the marathon on Sunday, with an early 6:15am start seeing the guys hit Melbourne’s roads in the dark as the sun began to rise.
Finishing a marathon is a tremendous achievement, and we know just how much hard work and dedication goes into preparing for 42.2km. A huge effort from all three guys — we hope you’re proud of what you’ve accomplished! 👏

Tynan was also back on the start line for the half marathon after a tough illness kept him out for several weeks. After a promising start, he made the smart call that it wasn’t the day to chase a fast time and instead helped pace some of the leading women. Great to see you back out there, Tynan! 💪 We were also pleased to see Carolyn Rosenbrock race walk her way to a 2:30, well done Carolyn!

A massive congratulations to all our Yarra athletes on another fantastic weekend of racing! 🩵🤍💚

All eyes now turn to the track as we prepare to take on AVSL Round 1 this Saturday! 🏃‍♂️

Victorian All Schools Athletic Championships 🏃‍♂️

Last weekend, 13 Yarra Ranges athletes competed at the Victorian All Schools Athletic Championships, proudly representing their schools. 💙🤍💚

We also welcomed Shania Tove and Bryce Fiedler to Team Yarra Ranges! We can’t wait to watch them take on the summer track and field season with us.

We saw some fantastic performances across the weekend, with multiple athletes bringing home medals. Congratulations to:

🏃 ROUND 1 – THIS SATURDAY!

It’s finally here. Our 2026/27 Track & Field season kicks off this Saturday!

⏰ Families, please arrive between 8:15–8:30am.

Round 1 has a little more happening before we get underway, with Age Groups getting organised and plenty of new families finding their feet.

🔥 Warm-up starts at 8:45am sharp, so please allow yourselves enough time to arrive, get organised and be ready with your Age Group.

🏷️ Season patches
Your athlete’s season patch will be ready for collection from your Age Group Leader, who will be in the usual area of the grandstand near your Age Group marker.

Patches will not be collected from the registration desk.

📋 The competition program will be released soon.

Give yourselves a little extra time, find your Age Group and we’ll get everyone underway.

Round 1 registration cut-off is tomorrow

We’re almost ready to kick off the new season this Saturday.

If your athlete is planning to compete as a registered member in Round 1, their season registration must be completed by tomorrow, Wednesday.

This is a hard cut-off so athlete records, barcode patches and competition administration can be finalised in time. Once that process is closed off, late registrations can’t be included in the Round 1 administration.

📄 For new registrations only: if you chose to provide proof of age later rather than uploading it during registration, Thursday is the cut-off.

Please email any outstanding proof of age to [email protected].

Wednesday cut-off does not apply to trial registrations. Trials are processed separately and do not require the same competition administration.

🏃 Round 1 is almost here!

The 2026-27 Little Athletics season starts next Saturday, so now’s the time for new and returning U6–U17 athletes to get registered.

New athletes are also welcome to complete a one-week trial before registering.

✅ Already planning to compete in Round 1?
Please complete your registration by Tuesday night so we can have athlete patches and results set up ready for the weekend.

📄 New athletes also need to provide proof of age as part of the registration process.
You can upload it during registration or email it to [email protected]. Documents are deleted once they’ve been sighted.

Proof of age must be received by Wednesday before Round 1.

Emily Pincott back on top. 1.66m clearance to win U15 girls High Jump at Vic All Schools Championships.

Needed a clutch jump at 1.63 but Champions do that.

We hope our athletics community are enjoying the Friday before the AFL Grand Final public holiday! If you can spare the time this weekend, a small working bee will be conducted to prepare the track for the upcoming summer season.

There will be volunteers at the track from 9am on Saturday, or 10-11am Sunday.
Tasks include
- shotput painting
- preparing/moving high jump scissor mat
- track cleaning with our industrial blower (it's on wheels!)
- preparing jumps pits by moving sand as necessary
- weeding jumps pits
- whatever we need to get the track in top shape for this summer!

What a way to finish the XCR season! 🤍💚💙
Round 10 was held at the famous Tan Track in the heart of Melbourne. The sun was shining, the vibes were high and all junior and open athletes took on one 3.8km lap.

It was all to play for, with five teams in the hunt for podiums and three teams chasing promotion. All eyes were on our Div 2 Men as they fought for promotion to Premier Division.
Tynan led the boys off despite being incredibly sick, he probably should have been home in bed, but wasn’t going to miss the chance to support his team! Max held position nicely, while late substitute Sam A stepped up and ran a huge PB. With three runners to go, the boys sat in 8th. Pierce flew out of the gates, moving them into 7th. Things were getting nerve-racking, with Geelong sitting 2nd and the boys needing 4th if Geelong were to win. Enter our hometown hero, James Laven! 💪 With pure grit and determination, James ran the race of his life, moving the team into 4th before handing over to Harry. Harry kept the momentum going with an impressive final leg, moving the team into 3rd and securing promotion to Premier Division! 🔥

Our Div 5 & Div 7 Men also put down impressive times, winning their divisions on the day AND taking out the entire season, securing promotion. What a team effort from these guys, stepping up whenever needed and giving 100% every week. True Yarra spirit!

Our Div 2 Women gave it everything against a strong Essendon, with Liv running a huge 20sec PB and taking the crown as the club’s fastest female Tan lap! She also ran the 14th fastest female time of the day. Zoe also ran a massive PB after stepping up into the Open Women’s team, followed by Lily and Grace to bring the team home in 2nd. Our Div 2 Women finish 2nd overall and remain in Div 2 for another year. The Div 3 Women showed their competitiveness, with Brig, Becky, Bonnie and Mads bringing the team home in 2nd. Unfortunately, due to a lack of numbers throughout the season, they will be relegated back to Div 4.

Our juniors also put in some impressive runs, with a special shoutout to Tori for stepping into the U18 Men’s team to ensure they had a team. The U18 Men finish the season 3rd! 🥉
What a season for Team Yarra! Congratulations to everyone involved in the 2026 XCR season.

HISTORY MADE FOR TEAM YARRA!! 🤍💚💙
The boys have done it, after only three seasons in Division 2 they have won the premiership and booked their spot in Premier division.

A hard fought battle with Geelong Region Cross Country all season saw Yarra come out on top in Division 2 by a margin of just 2 points!!! A testament to their hard work and dedication to the team for both clubs. Kudos to the Geelong Cats for a hard-fought season, we knew it'd take something special after seeing four back-to-back wins from the Cats.

We can’t wait to see what our Yarra boys can achieve in next season.

But what’s better than one division win, how about THREE!! That’s right our Division 5 and Division 7 Men have run themselves to victory today at The Tan, not only winning their divisions today but winning the entire series and earning promotions for next season.

We are so proud of this small club and everything they have achieved this season. Full results coming soon.
