XCR Round 3 returned to the much loved venue of St Anneโ€™s Ravenswood in Bendigo, serving up a challenging course and spectacular views. A day of some classic Victorian weather - a bit of driving rain succeeded by a bit of sunshine, it really gave us everything. There were some excellent performances on the day.

While our Open athletes stood shivering in the (dry) club tent, our juniors tackled the 5km course. Kudos to our juniors who raced through the rain! We saw a huge run from Ryder Holland who finished an excellent 8th. Ryder, Mitch, and Blake also combined to secure 2nd place in the U18 team standings. Outstanding work. Cozzie bagged a top 20 finish in the U16 male event. Zoe also impressed with a top 10 finish, crossing the line in 7th place.

Our Open Men stayed competitive in the Division. James Laven delivered one of his strongest XCR performances in recent seasons, storming home to finish 14th. Sam Arnold and Sam Quirk also stepped up with outstanding runs, helping the team secure 2nd place behind Geelong. The result extends the teamโ€™s lead over St Kevinโ€™s as they remain on top of the Division 2 ladder with seven rounds remaining.

Our Open Women were represented by Brigitte, Maddie and Bonnie who smiled through the challenging conditions. Bonnie and Maddie both had strong runs, working through the groups, taking a few spots every corner to finish in 87th and 55th respectively! Well done Bonnie and Mads. Their results took team Yarra to an 8th place in Div 2. At the conclusion of the round, our women will move to 3rd overall on the Division 2 ladder.

Next up is the return of Cruden Farm, the heritage round and an event not to be missed! Get your entries in now and avoid the stress of a last-minute registration.

Go Yarra! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Round 3 of XCR26 is here this weekend. Our Seniors head up to St Anne's Ravenswood (Bendigo) for one of the XC favourites of the season. A classic Australian landscape awaits; rugged terrain with sweeping hills, dotted by twisted Eucalyptus and boulders. This is not one to miss, as St Anne's Ravenswood did not feature in last year's calendar a round with drought conditions making the course all but untenable. We encourage our teams to carpool where possible!

Visit athsvic.org.au for a peak at the draft timetable which will be finalised closer to the weekend.

We're pleased to return to Bendigo and look forwards to seeing our Seniors competing there this weekend.

XCR Round 2 โ€“ Jells Park Relays ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’š

The weather gods were on our side with sunshine all afternoon, although the wind may have had other ideas. Still, that didnโ€™t stop team Yarra from having a huge day out!
All eyes were on our Open Div 2 menโ€™s and womenโ€™s teams after their strong wins in Round 1, and both teams delivered the goods again.
The men got off to a flying start with Tynan running the 20th fastest menโ€™s time of the day. Max, Pierce and Dan kept the boys well in contention before James Laven stormed through the field on fifth leg, taking the team from 5th into 1st heading into the final changeover. Harry then brought it home in style after already training that morning, securing a dominant 3-minute win over St Kevinโ€™s. A huge statement from the lads in Division 2.

Our Div 5 men also impressed, taking second as we welcomed back Luke, Sam A and Sam Q for 2026, while our Div 7 teams finished second and sixth thanks to strong efforts from everyone involved, including James CS stepping up from the U20s and coach Strudley answering the call after a late out.

The womenโ€™s race was another thriller against Essendon. Liv opened up an early lead and ran the 6th fastest womenโ€™s time of the day before Brig and Grace battled through multiple lead changes. Lily Peacock gave absolutely everything on the final leg, bringing the girls home for second, just 28 seconds behind Essendon. This rivalry is shaping up to be something special this season.

Our juniors also impressed, with Brinn Gotch debuting as the U18 boys finished 4th, while our second U18 boys team placed 9th. Special shoutout to Ryder for running the 12th fastest junior menโ€™s 3km of the day.
Congrats to all our athletes on another fantastic weekend of racing!

Next up: Round 3 at St Anneโ€™s Bendigo. Make sure you enter via the portal before entries close on 27 May.
