🗓️ ALASKA CRUISE TIP #5: TIMING IS EVERYTHING!

When you cruise Alaska can be as important as where you cruise!

We chose late May/early June and experienced fewer crowds, moose and bear sightings, and even enjoyed longer stays to watch the glacier calving.

The skies are clear, the air is crisp, the sunsets are magnificent.

May = Fewer people, better deals
June/July = Midnight sun, warmest temps
August = Wildlife & berries
September = Fall colors & possible Aurora

📦 5 GAME-CHANGING PACKING HACKS THAT SAVED MY ALASKA TRIP! 📦

After 15+ trips, I've FINALLY mastered the art of packing smart!

These hacks were absolute lifesavers on our recent Alaska cruise:
1️⃣ Roll, Don't Fold! Rolling clothes instead of folding saved 30% space in my suitcase AND reduced wrinkles. I fit 7 days of Alaska-ready layers in one carry-on!
2️⃣ Shower Cap Shoe Hack: Place dirty shoes in shower caps (free from hotels!) to keep clothes clean. Worked perfectly for muddy hiking boots after our Juneau excursion!
3️⃣ Compression Packing Cubes: Absolute GAME CHANGERS! Organized my bulky sweaters and jackets by day/activity and compressed them to half their size. Best $25 I've spent on travel gear!
4️⃣ Pill Case for Jewelry: Used a weekly pill organizer to keep necklaces untangled and earrings paired. No more jewelry treasure hunts at the bottom of my toiletry bag!
5️⃣ Scan Important Documents: Saved digital copies of our passports, cruise tickets, and excursion confirmations to my phone AND emailed them to myself. When our WiFi was spotty near the glaciers, the offline copies saved us major stress!

📸 ALASKA CRUISE TIP #4: GEAR UP!

"Is that a bear or a rock?" Don't let this be you in Alaska!

We invested in quality binoculars and a camera with a good zoom lens, and they paid for themselves in memories captured.

From spotting eagles perched on distant trees to capturing that perfect shot of a glacier calving, the right equipment makes all the difference.

We even caught a moose and her calf on the shoreline that would have been tiny dots to the naked eye!

Check out the photos to see the glacier trekking team in action... I didn't realise how many there were until I rechecked the images!

🦅 ALASKA CRUISE TIP #3: BOOK EXCURSIONS EARLY!

The disappointment of hearing "Sorry, we're fully booked" for that helicopter glacier tour or dog sledding adventure is REAL!

We booked our excursions 4 months in advance and were glad we did—many were sold out weeks before sailing.

Our Mendenhall Glacier hike and whale watching tour in Juneau were absolute highlights of our trip!

🚢 ALASKA CRUISE TIP #2: SPLURGE ON THE BALCONY!

Trust us, this is NOT the cruise to save money on an interior room!

We spent countless hours on our private balcony witnessing breathtaking moments that people on the main deck missed.

Imagine sipping your morning coffee while a humpback whale breaches just yards away, or waking up to the thunderous sound of glaciers calving in misty fjords.

These moments happen when you least expect them!

📦 ALASKA CRUISE TIP #1: PACK SMART!

Weather in Alaska can change faster than you can say "glacier"!

One minute sunshine, the next minute rain.

Our best advice? LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS!

We learned this the hard way on our recent cruise when we experienced all four seasons in a single day near Glacier Bay.

Waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, AND sunscreen were all essential in the same afternoon!
