Mitchell James Tennis

Mitchell James Tennis I love to play Tennis & other sports. I want to inspire other disability athletes to believe anything is possible

I am a person with an intellectual Disability who loves to play sport. I like cricket and golf but my passion is playing and coaching tennis which I have played since 5yo. Through tennis I have competed locally, nationally and overseas with Special Olympics, Sport Inclusion Australia and Virtus Sport. I want to inspire other athletes to get active and to show that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and work hard for what you want.

I’ve been a bit quiet with my tennis for the past few months after injuries at the AO in January. I have a new coach and club and I’m back playing in an ITF seniors tournament this weekend and I’m playing in the quarterfinals today against the No. 1 seed.

Mitchell James: A Courageous Heart

For fourteen years, he’s graced the stage,
A warrior on Australia’s sporting page.
With medals of gold, of silver, of bronze,
He’s carved his name where greatness belongs.

His serve—a thunder, a game-changing might,
Launching the ball to impossible heights.
Beside his partner, Josh, a perfect pair,
They’ve conquered courts with talent rare.

Three days a week, he sharpens his skill,
Driven by passion, unwavering will.
But off the court, his heart shines true,
Inspiring juniors to chase dreams too.

With broad shoulders, his presence is known,
Curly hair and teal eyes brightly shown.
And his smile, a beacon, warm and wide,
Reflecting the kindness he carries inside.

At thirty-one, with a story so grand,
Mitchell walks with a racquet in hand.
A champion, a coach, a friend so true,
Australia’s pride, through and through.
