Yarra End Collective. Official statement.
Just under 12 months since the league and state of football was at an all time high, we had experienced the most successful men's world cup campaign ever, it felt like the A-League was finally going back to the glory days, us city fans landed back home from Sydney away, checked our phones, and from that moment on. Everything changed.
Yarra End Collective, along with the former City Terrace, aided by *almost* every group in the country worked in unison, held meetings with the tool who's currently scurrying off to a job in the middle east, a place where hiding corruption is far easier, Danny Townsend, we put our differences aside for one common purpose, and we've achieved our goal. As we always do.
Australian football fans always win, we have fought for decades to get our game recognised, loved, out of the shadows, and now fought the corruption within.
Today once again proved that you CANNOT take on the fans and win. Fans can do without football but football CANNOT do without it's fans.
Our decision to boycott the finals series, and sticking firm through the grand final, while other groups flaked away, while it was a difficult decision to make as we were a new group, it proved effective, as a result we sat down with APL officials including Town$end, and set up the national Fan Representative Groups, with the help of the Cove, which have had their first meetings in the last few weeks.
Our message to all Australian fans of *nearly* every club is that we are incredibly proud of everyone, us as a community have once again shown our resilience and have made the people who fought for this game before anyone else did proud... Johnny Warren and Les Murray.
In the words of the late Johnny Warren.
I told you so.
