There’s a quiet crisis playing out in high-performing organisations.

✔ Leaders are stretched thin but afraid to slow down
✔ Teams are running on fumes still delivering, but losing clarity and trust
✔ Everyone’s watching AI reshape work, but no one’s asking how leadership needs to change now in response

The truth?

Most leadership programs are still preparing people for a version of the world that no longer exists or soon won’t.

In a future where AI handle complexity, speed, and even empathy at scale
what makes leadership relevant isn’t more polish or performance.

It’s what stays human:

→ Clarity in uncertainty
→ Ethics under pressure
→ Trust in an AI-integrated world
→ The ability to think systemically and act compassionately

The World Economic Forum says the next leadership edge will belong to those who can lead hybrid teams of humans and machines with integrity.

That takes more than “soft skills.”
It takes a completely different way of thinking.

This is where I work:
Not in the theoretical, but in the real-world tension of leading while the rules are being rewritten.

Clients bring me in when they’re ready to:

✔ Have the conversations they’ve been avoiding
✔ Build capability AI can’t replicate
✔ Equip their leaders to do hard things humanly

If you're curating speakers or facilitators for your next offsite, roundtable, or leadership program and you want something that cuts through the noise and actually sticks.

Let’s talk.

It's time to ditch the humble brag.

This week I wrote my first article for The Australian Financial Review on how as women we can remove the "ick" factor of becoming an expert.

This piece was born out of my groundbreaking whitepaper Hidden Figures: Where are all the female experts? Which seeks to understand how a woman's relationship with the word expert impacts her ability to become one.

Is sharing this with you bragging?

Nope…it’s called being proud of my impact and most importantly it signals to other women like you the need to ditch the humble brag and promote your impact.

My Hidden Figures qualitative research found that far too often women hold back their voices, their opinions and sharing their impact out of fear of criticism and the judgement of others.

In the words of Tay Tay “the haters gonna hate”.

You not showing up for yourself will not stop them.

It’s a part of who they are. Don’t let one keyboard warrior stop you from living your impact, from owning your voice and stepping into your power.

Downplaying your impact when you share it with words like “a humble brag” diminishes the power and importance of what you’ve done.

So, I’m inviting you to ditch the humble brag and start practising owning your voice publicly by proudly sharing the impact you are making. The more we normalise this behaviour as women the more women get noticed, recognised and shared for their expertise.

Whether you’re a woman wanting to make an impact, a corporate or government leader, a conference organiser or an influencer in the media download an early copy of Hidden Figures Whitepaper via comments and move us closer to a more inclusive and compassionate future.

If I can’t see it, I can’t be it. 🫣

Longing to make a meaningful difference in the world but not feeling expert enough to own your voice publicly? 🧐

Do you struggle to see examples of women like yourself disrupting the status quo to make the world a better place, putting themselves out there as experts in their field? 🤔

One of the key findings of my soon-to-be-published groundbreaking research Hidden Figures: Where are all the female experts? 👀

Was that women feel that there is a lack of diverse female expert role models. This impacts their ability to confidently lean in.

Now this is where it gets interesting. 😏

Whilst working on the promotional campaign to launch my Whitepaper I started searching Google and Canva to grab images of female experts so that I could show what diversity looks like…and hopefully inspire more women to step up and start owning their impact. 🤩

Check out the carousel to see what I found. 🤗

The search terms woman and expert on Canva and Google generate more graphics of men than women. The photos of female experts seem to convey that expert women only work in corporate, are white and like to cross their arms a lot. 🤨

How is it that in the year 2024, we don’t even have great images available of diverse women that portray them as experts? Is it any wonder women struggle to see that they could be an expert? 😳

I’m calling this out and asking Canva and Google to look into how they can provide more diverse search examples of female experts so that more women can see it and be it. 😏

Have you experienced this when searching for images? 🤔

When was the last time you acted on a hunch? 🤨

Something that lit a fire in your soul 🔥 but scared you to death at the same time because it felt so huge and made you wonder… who am I to think I can…? 🤔

Far too many women I connect with share with me their ideas to make the world a better place through their work and how they haven’t acted on these inner hunches out of fear. 😊

FOPO is what they call it. 🫣

👉 Fear Of Other People's Opinions.

👉 Fear of Criticism.

👉 Fear of being exposed as an imposter.

These feelings were all validated in my soon-to-be-published research…

4 months ago I had a hunch.

A hunch that professional women often have a negative relationship with the word expert and it impacts their ability to become one which impacts our ability to realise gender equality in positions of influence and power. ⚡

Having just finished Advanced Statistics in my Psychology Honours I decided to apply my learning. 📝

Developed a qualitative research plan, recruited 21 women across corporate and entrepreneurship and set up exploring how women's relationship with the word expert impacts their ability to become one. 😌

Acting on that hunch has enabled me to produce my groundbreaking Whitepaper Hidden Figures: Where are all the female experts? Which will be launched in October. 🙌

That hunch now has me collaborating with a number of esteemed media publications and organisations enabling me to scale my impact and create more opportunities for diverse women to confidently own their power as an expert and become role models for the next generation. 👏

Truth be told after 10 years as an Impact Maker I still feel "FOPO", I just refuse to let it stop me from making the world a better place. 😊

If you’d like to stop letting FOPO hold you back join The Weekly Reflective via the link here: https://app.hackinghappy.co/join-our-mailing-list and be one of the first to read my Whitepaper. How many times have you worked through pain related to menstruation, menopause, or fertility challenges? 🙇‍♀️

How many times have you hidden that pain at work out of fear of it impacting your career progression or how others will perceive your work ethic or level of resilience? 🤔

I recently came across one of my corporate clients - Deloitte’s 2024 Women At Work Survey and it triggered me. 😏

You see I’ve been peri-menopausal I suspect for a while now but the past month has been extremely challenging, uncomfortable and energy-depleting. 😓

Too much information? Sorry, not sorry. 😎

My challenges have had me wondering many times how women who don’t have the freedom I do navigate this challenge in the workplace. 😌

I share this because we are in the year 2024 and according to Deloitte’s global findings, many women are working through their pain and not talking about it due to fear of adverse career repercussions. 😞

The fact that women still feel afraid to share their pain at work. Pain that so many of us suffer in differing ways, pain that is a natural part of being a woman is utterly wrong! 🙅‍♀️

This is just one example of how the underrepresentation of female voices in positions of power and influence stifles not only the progress of gender equality but also the societal benefits it unlocks. 👌

If we don’t make it safe to have conversations about women, their pain and how it impacts our work is it any wonder it will take another 135 years to achieve gender parity (World Economic Forum, 2024). 😟

Here are the Impact Experts I know that are changing the conversation around women’s pain and how we can support women better in the workplace. 😊

I encourage you to check them out, seek them out if you need support and share their work where you can. 🤗

Today I turn 49, and when I look in the mirror, I like who I see 🙌.

✨ I see a woman who stopped complaining about her situation and invested 9.5 years experimenting to change it for the better,

✨ I see a woman who has played a long game, who has persisted in adversity to shape a life she loves,

✨ I see an unconventional independent mum who is doing the best she can,

✨ I see a woman who is courageous and consistent in how she shows up,

✨ I see a woman who spends her days doing work she loves with people who make her a better version of herself,

✨ I see a woman who is energised and excited about growing older and continuing to make a meaningful difference through her work and in the lives of others,

✨ I see a woman who unapologetically prioritises her health and happiness,

✨ I see a woman committed to making the world a happier, more inclusive and compassionate place,

✨ I see a woman who is beautifully flawed and in love with who she’s becoming,

✨ I see a woman who unashamedly owns the fact that she is an impact expert and she’s here to help many other women realise the impact they seek to have on the lives of others.

I share this because it’s taken me 49 years to look in the mirror and truly like who I see 💛.

To accept who I am and to know that I am enough. Far too many of us look in the mirror and choose to only see the bits we don’t like. But trust me the good bits are there you just have to allow yourself to see them.

So today my invitation to you is this.

Look in the mirror with love and compassion and choose to see the true beauty that you are ✨.

Creating an impact means putting yourself out there and not knowing how it will be received or reproduced. 😌

I am constantly pitching my expertise to the media. 🎥

As a small business owner, it’s an excellent way to build your credibility and your client base. 👩🏻‍💻

However… when you do this it’s a risk as you often don’t get to control the narrative when it's published and it can go either way. 😏

For example, I contributed as an expert to an article in Marie Claire called the Happiness Reset and I did not know until it was published that my perspectives were sprinkled amongst some of the absolute gurus globally on happiness. WIN! 🤩

My story on how I turned my life upside down in pursuit of happiness was that same week published on news.com.au as an example of what happens when employees are disengaged…another WIN! 🙌

Yet only a week earlier I contributed to an article in Yahoo Finance 📰 on investing in your credentials and the cost of doing so and the headline really was not what I was expecting (see the carousel). 👎

Is this going to stop me from pitching my expertise to have an impact? 🤔

Hell NO it only motivates me more. 💪

Courageous confident women are made not born. 🤗

Made through the practice of micro bravery, doing one small thing every day that scares us. This is how we build the resilience to back ourselves to believe and in the process inspire others to do the same. 👌

What would backing yourself look like for you today? 🤨

Is ready holding you back? 🫢

Here’s the thing, ready used to be my middle name. 🙂

I was a perfectionist which meant I spent a lot of time ⏱️ making sure everything was ready before action was taken.

I’d always sought to be ready because that was how I’d been conditioned to be. 😏

Always prepared which meant never spontaneous and if I’m honest risk averse. My professional conditioning had taught me to manage and mitigate risk not take it. 😌

And then at the age of 39 after sitting with my "longing to make some massive changes in my life" for 3 years, I came to the cold hard realisation that I would never be ready. 😣

So, I asked myself what is the cost of never being ready, the cost of never realising the life and impact you seek.

In my view, it was too much. Ready and all that goes with it was holding me back.

It was time to surrender the self-doubt and step into action that would build the courage and confidence to evolve into the impact expert I was born to be! 😎

I wondered what could be possible if I leapt into not being ready more often.

Fast forward 10 years in my entrepreneurial journey and I have discovered there is no way I would have had the opportunities I’ve had were it not for letting go of the need to be ready. 🤨

You see I wasn't ready:
👉 to turn my life upside down in pursuit of happiness
👉 to become an entrepreneur
👉 to deliver a keynote to 120 women in my bathing suit to prove the power of getting comfortable with discomfort
👉 to start dating someone 10 years younger than me
👉 to do a TED Talk
👉 to write a book
👉 to create a psychometric and skills framework in intentional adaptability and have it published in an esteemed Psy Journal
👉 to jump out of a plane
👉 to hike 120kms up to Annapurna Base Camp in the Himalayas
👉 to write for HBR
👉 to go back and study trauma and psychology in my late 40’s

I trained myself to surrender to the uncertainty and embrace the fact that we are never fully ready for self-disruption and becoming impact experts. 🥰

So we have to just jump in because doing nothing would mean nothing would change in me or in the world that I so desperately wanted to make more inclusive and compassionate.
