MEERLIEU CRICKET CLUB WOOD RAFFLE

Our annual Wood Raffle is back and couldn’t have come at a better time as we head into the chilly winter months 🥶

Come and see the Meerlieu Cricket Club crew at the Woolworths Shopping Centre from Thursday 18th June through to Saturday 20th June and grab your tickets for your chance to win a trailer load of red gum firewood.

Get down to the Lindenow Pub this Friday 5th June and kick off the Kings Birthday long weekend with the Meerlieu Cricket Club raffles 🍻💙💛

Come along from 5:30pm onwards, grab a drink, catch up with the crew and support the club.

🌾Player Announcement🌾

The Meerlieu Cricket Club is building strongly into season 2026/27, with overseas star Connor Mitchell recommitting for his third consecutive season at the Tussocks. 🔥🏏

Since arriving at the club, Connor has made an enormous impact both on and off the field — highlighted by taking out the BCA Cricketer of the Year award in his first season in blue and gold.

A proven match-winner with both bat and ball, Connor remains a massive part of what the Tussocks are building towards as we continue to push forward into a huge 2026/27 campaign.

We can’t wait to have him back around the club once again 🌾

🌾Player Announcement🌾

The Meerlieu Cricket Club is thrilled to officially announce the signing of Nathan Pollard for the 2026/27 season.

After taking a season away from the game, Polly is ready to return to the field — and he does so with an outstanding cricket resume behind him. His most recent appearance came on the biggest stage of all, a Grand Final at the MCG, where he delivered a dominant Man of the Match performance with both bat and ball.

Nathan’s experience, competitiveness and proven ability to perform under pressure will be a tremendous addition to the Tussocks both on and off the field, and the club is excited to see what he can bring to the group this season.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Nathan’s partner Nicola, along with Evie, Adelyn and James, as they join the Tussocks family.

Please join us in welcoming Polly and his family to Meerlieu for season 2026/27! 🏏

Following a landmark season for the Meerlieu Cricket Club, with the successful introduction of our first women’s side 🏏, the committee has undertaken a thorough review of how we continue to recognise and support the growth of the club.

As part of this process, a decision has been made to formally establish a distinct identity for our women’s team.
From next season, they will be known as “The Tussettes” 💁‍♀️

The move has been fully endorsed by Club President Scott Ashley, who is pictured holding the 2026/27 season playing shirt, with women’s captain Becky Stevens also supporting the decision as an important step in reflecting the club’s ongoing development and inclusive direction.

Our men’s teams will continue to compete as “The Tussocks”, while the Tussettes look to build on what has already been a strong and promising foundation 💪

We believe this is a positive step forward for the club as we continue to grow both on and off the field.

Tonight the Meerlieu Cricket Club celebrated the achievements and efforts of its members both on and off the field. Parents, coaches, team mates, volunteers and curators were thanked for their time, energy and dedication.
As we also celebrated individual award winners who were recognised for their dedication to their cricket this season.
What a 2025/26 year at Tussock Land we can’t wait to see you next season! 🌾
