You can have the perfect stance.
You can choose the perfect line.
You can have a beautiful backswing…

But if the release goes wrong, the bowl probably will too! 😅

🔥 PART 4: THE RELEASE — LETTING THE BOWL FLOW

A good delivery isn’t about throwing the bowl down the green. It’s about releasing it low, smooth and level to the ground, allowing the bowl to roll naturally off your fingers.

Remember:

🎯 Release close to the ground
✋ Keep your hand and wrist aligned
⏱️ Maintain a smooth, steady speed
➰ Follow the natural arc of your swing
💪 Control, not power!

🎯 YOU CAN’T ALWAYS FEEL WHAT’S WRONG… BUT THE CAMERA CAN SEE IT! 📹👀

We’re continuing the FIX YOUR BOWLS series — looking at those little delivery faults that can make a BIG difference on the green. 🔥

This time: STEPPING ACROSS THE LINE.

It might only be a few centimetres… but it can lead to:
❌ An inconsistent delivery line
❌ Compensating with your arm swing
❌ Bowls being pulled narrow
❌ That frustrating “Why do I keep missing the same way?” moment 😩

Sometimes you think you’re staying down…
You think you’re balanced…
You think you’re holding your finish…

Then someone records your delivery. 👀😂

VIDEO DOESN’T LIE!

In the next part of our FIX YOUR BOWLS DELIVERY FASTER series, we’re looking at two sneaky habits that can seriously affect consistency:

👀 HEAD MOVEMENT
Are you lifting early, drifting sideways or taking your eyes off the target?

⚖️ FALLING AWAY AFTER RELEASE
Are you pulling back, stepping off-line or abandoning the shot before the bowl is on its way?

The fixes can be surprisingly simple:

✅ Keep your eyes locked on your aiming point
✅ Stay down through the delivery
✅ Hold your finish for 2–3 seconds
✅ Let the bowl go before you go chasing it! 😜

🎥 Record yourself. Watch it back. Spot the little things.

Because sometimes the difference between “Why do I keep doing that?!” and consistent bowls is one small adjustment.

Amazing what you can achieve when you have forward thinking committee, well done Foster

The Foster Bowls Club are very pleased to have been successful a few months back with a successful grant from Sport & Recreation Victoria. A big thankyou goes out to them.

Our very popular Jack Attack competition at the club is thriving and the funding we received has gone towards the purchase of ten more sets of bowls! We've been patiently waiting for them to arrive!
This will see everybody now having a great choice of bowls size. Being able to use new brightly coloured, modern bowls when learning the game. Another boost for the event players.
We can't wait for the new Jack Attack season to start. Wednesday October 14th!!!

We had another enjoyable Ladies Social Fun day at the Meeniyan Bowling Club. The day was sponsored by Kym Lweis of Where2Travel. We thank her very much, Kym had roll with the ladies. We thank those who have supported the club with this event over the last few months. Great raffle prizes donated by Prom Meats Foster, Sunny Rae Inverloch (glasswear), Karen with her creations and vege boxes.

Tournament Games & Games in a Series

When the final bowl has been delivered and the competition is tight… how is the winner actually decided? 🤔🎯

Law 27 sets out exactly how tournament and series winners are determined — and there’s more to it than simply looking at the scoreboard!

✅ Games won can determine the winner
🎯 Net total of shots may come into play
🏆 When teams are equal, points for wins and draws can decide it
🧮 Still tied? A calculation based on shots scored versus shots conceded may separate the field
📋 And importantly, the Conditions of Play can contain different regulations for deciding the winner.

💡 THE BIG LESSON:
Never assume you know how a competition will be decided. Read the Conditions of Play before the first bowl is delivered!

Because when margins are tiny, understanding the rules could be just as important as delivering that perfect last bowl. 👀🔥

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our Charlie, he was quite a character, always out for a chat or something to eat. He will be missed by club members.
