Ben Alford has been swimming for the Derby Sharks Swimming Club since he was 8 years old- last week he turned 18! It’s been a goal of his for sometime to swim under 1:00min for 100 metres (4 laps of our Derby pool).

Last week at our last Club Night for the year Ben did exactly that. He swam 100m in 59.09!! 🏊🏼‍♂️

His name will now go on the SUB ONE MINUTE CLUB plaque that is on display at the pool. What an achievement for Ben! 💪🏼🦈

🏊🏼‍♂️ Another successful weekend at the Kimberley Open Short Course last weekend. Our swimmers swam exceptional and the club walked away with 25 Gold, 15 Silver and 16 Bronze. An amazing effort from such a small club! You should all be proud of your efforts. Thank you to our parents and coaches who attended and thank to Broome Barracudas for hosting such a wonderful event!

13 swimmers recently competed in the Kimerbely Open Short Course Competition in Broome. PB’s were smashed, medals were won and everyone involved had a great time. Derby walked away with 55 medals, which is a huge effort for our small club! All swimmers should be proud of their efforts! Harvey Alford also walked away with Senior Swimmer of the Competition. Congratulations to everyone involved! 🏅💪🏼🦈

Our Senior sharks and coaches participated in the Derby Swim Classic on Saturday morning! They finished the morning with the fastest time, completing the 20km’s in 5:25.03! Well done to those that participated. It was a great morning! 🦈🥇🏊🏼‍♀️
