Good Morning

We are just trying to finalise our Queensland Athletics Cross Country Relay team, which will be held on Saturday, June 20, at Nudgee College.

Entries will close early next Tuesday, 16 June, so we want to finalise this week.

We currently have the following CONFIRMED TEAMS:
U14 Girls (born 2013/2014) 3 x 2km: Athena W, Lilly-Rose W and Aurora V
U12 Girls (born 2015/2016) 3 x 2km: Ruby D; Jasmine B and Willow C
U10 Girls (Born 2017/2018) 3 x 1.2km: Evie D; Elliott W and Ava M

We do have some other athletes wanting to participate and need the following teams filled, so if you have some keen runners - please reach out ASAP:
Boys U14 3 x 2km (born 2013/2014) - Senuk H - we need another 2 runners
Girls U14 3 x 2km (born 2013/2014) - Jasmine M - we need another 2 runners
Boys U12 3 x 2km (born 2015/2016) - Dulein H; Luke E - we need another runner
Boys U10 3 x 1.2km (born 2017/2018) - Joshua B - we need another 2 runners
Boys U8 3 x 1.2km (born 2019/2020) - Jenai H; Ryder - We need 1 athlete
Girls U8 3 x 1.2km (born 2019/2020) - Maya M; We need another 2 runners

Springwood will nominate the teams (if we get the three runners), but the athletes will require at least a base membership with Queensland Athletics ($12) before the day- you can join here.

Beware of the Email Bots.

All members who registered for the 2025/26 would have received an automated email advising that their membership would expire at the end of June.

You do not need to act on re-registering for the 2026/2027 season yet, so you can safely ignore this email. We will start publishing details on the upcoming season closer to the beginning of July.

We love sharing news about our athletes (and ex-athletes).

Well done to Lennix on his selection in the U15/U16 Queensland squad. Thats huge and I will give Jemma a pass for the non-attendance at the AGM last Sunday. ;)

You might recognise Lennix; he is one of our wonderful senior and ex-athletes who come down to the centre on a Friday night to assist with setup and field preparation.

Springwood Little Athletics would like to thank everyone who attended yesterday afternoon's Annual General Meeting.
We do appreciate the giving up of your Sunday afternoon time (especially since the Cowboys were playing).

We would like to announce our initial 2026-27 Committee:
Centre Manager / president: David Williams was returned
Treasurer: Simon Woodward was returned
Secretary: Lauren Shapcott ... a new member on our committee and will be working closely with the executive and Deanna Watt-Price to ensure her transition into the role will be as smooth as possible. We do thank Deanna for her time in season 2025-26 as she stepped into the vacant key position to ensure the centre could function properly in line with our legal requirements.

General Members:

Deanna Watt-Price (Returning)

Mel Lohrisch (Returning) .... After a gap year, where Mel travelled the world last Season, she returns to the committee.
Kellie Pead (New) .. We welcome Kellie as a newish member of our centre and volunteer to shape our centre for all the athletes.

We also welcome Steff Marley, who, although not a formal committee member (yet!!), has indicated she would like to continue assisting in the Uniform Shop and work further with the committee on soon-to-be-formed sub-committees.
If you have ever thought, I want to be more involved but can't commit to monthly meetings, have a chat to us to see how we can connect you into the group.

Last but not least - We say farewell to Life Member Tracey Tuia, who returned to join the committee last season as Assistant Centre-Manager to fill a great need. Tracey will still be seen as a coach around the centre, and the rumour is we traded a committee member for someone to assist with the mowing .... FAIR TRADE I say.

This week is National Volunteers Week, so we take a moment to thank ALL the volunteers who help make Springwood Little Athletics tick each week.

Good evening. Springwood is looking at entering a few cross-country teams (depending on interest) in the Queensland Athletics Cross Country Relays, to be held on Saturday June 20 at Nudgee College.

Springwood will nominate the teams (if we have three runners), but the athletes will require at least a base membership with Queensland Athletics ($12) before the day- you can join here.

Don't forget!
Middle distance/ cross-country training with coach Judy today at 5:30 at the Sharks Oval.

Sessions are open to all ages 8 years and above.

You will need comfortable joggers, a water bottle, a jumper and a towel (and potentially a change of clothes)

Cost is $5 per session. See you all today.
