Well done everyone on a terrific working bee today — we managed to get through a huge number of tasks, which was fantastic to see! Thanks to the many members (longstanding and new) who helped in this productive session. Next up our Heads of Committees will wrap up our Strategic Plan, then comes the Club AGM in June. In the meantime good luck our sailors at Sail Bellarine and the Windsurfer Slalom champs this weekend.

Well done (again) Mark!

Fantastic opportunity to try a Javelin at McCrae next Saturday from 11 am! This is part of the build up to next summer's Javelin and Cherub Nationals at McCrae. The Cherubs will also have a couple of boats on the water for a test sail. Both classes are a lot of fun!

Might have been too windy for racing, but great fun for some to hit the water on wave boards instead. Awesome to see the small fleet dominated by some of our under 21s who'll sleep well tonight! Maybe there's no such thing as wrong weather for sailing - only wrong gear! (But safety first of course).

A crazy end of month BBQ celebration for McCrae YC. Where do we start with a daunting list of achievements? Includes:

+ Scott and David Cunningham - who made history as Brisbane/Victorian sailors landing a 3rd on GC Sails at the JJ Giltinan 18 foot skiff World Champs on Sydney harbour - exceeding their aspiration for a top 5 finish.

+ Mark Bulka - just finished his 23rd regatta in 12 months with a picket fence at the Contender State Titles, and was also last week announced as a VicSport Frank Wilkes Outstanding Male Athlete finalist. Previous winners include Shane Warne, Andrew Bogut, Cadel Evans. The only sailor to have previously won it is Glenn Ashby from McCrae/Bendigo. Speaking of Glenn:

+ Glen Ashby who was announced last week as an Inductee into the Americas Cup Hall of Fame.

Some of the other many successful sailors in the mix this month night include:
+ Guy Bancroft, who won the Sharpie states with a picket fence)
+ Round French Island place-getters (Chris Boag, Josh Baker, Simon Lyddieth)
+ our performance squad youth including Zoe Heffernan who last month became U23 State Champ on the ILCA 6
+ the list goes on and on - with podium performances in the ILCAs, Taipans, Women's Sports Boat, Paper Tigers, A Class, Sabre

Most important of all are our new sailors and volunteers (of all ages) who have completed sailing courses - start sailing, start racing, start windsurfing, powerboat handling and more.

Other magical moments from yesterday include seeing:
+ a bunch of youth doing their first races on the 'big course'
+ an adult learn-to-sail graduate who has dreamed of sailing her entire life finally steer her beautifully restored mirror in a greenfleet race
+ a new member and powerboat handler graduate drive the start boat
+ sailors, like Lachie Vize, rescuing other sailors, like James Wierzbowski Sailing on his Switch. Who know you could sail an IQfoil two up?

Looking ahead, don't forget to follow McCrae's Casey Imeneo on the ILCA6 this week at the massive Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca - a critical Olympic prep regatta. Oh, and Casey was first Australian in the team at the warm up Mallorca Sailing Centre Regatta a couple of weeks back.

That's it for now from a humble, down-to-earth off-the-beach club. Check comments for links.
