MORNING CURSE STRIKES AGAIN

DOOM were off to a good start against the Rollerburger Leedervillains, but run out of gas in the deceptively hot Autumn morning.

Leedervillains go home with the win - 16 to 13.

THE GREENOFF

Greenmount DOOM took on the Swamp Dogs at the opening of the new Bayswater rink to settle who were the meanest team in green this season.

The deliciously fast rink with full boards proved a treat for DOOM, using it to their advantage to build up a healthy lead that was never threatened throughout the game.

Star recruit Amy managed to get her first goal of the season while Bodie powered through getting most of the goals as usual.

DOOM break their 4-loss streak getting over Swamp Dogs 13 to 8.

2 weeks, 4 games, 4 losses.

With the return of Bodie and Sam, plus the addition of Amy, DOOM were back in business and ready to play some good hockey after a few weeks off. Unfortunately in that time we've forgotten how to play some good hockey.

Last fortnight DOOM travelled to the Shark Tank to play since the DOOM DOME was rained out, first game against the Mindarie Moltovs. Tight and gritty gameplay ensued, Molotovs' Benson making quick work of our sloppy defence (despite his tight pants handicap). DOOM losing out 10 to 6.

After a break DOOM took on their old rivals the Churchlands Hellraisers. The fresh yet undermanned Hellraisers were simply too quick for us, skating around us, their Spanks Running Club training sure coming in handy. Goals were aplenty but Hellraisers got the win 15 to 9.

A week later DOOM were faced with 2 morning games at the DOOM DOME with the first at an ungodly hour of 9:30am against the Claremont Cereal Killahs. The Cereal Killahs, clearly masters of the AM got a jump on our sleepy defence with a couple of quick goals. DOOM weren't able to close the gap, losing 9 to 7.

Next up were the Como Moco + some godly ringer. Having finally woken up DOOM upped their game, bringing back some of their trademark magic, but it wasn't enough as the Moco had the edge all game, beating us 11 to 7 in a really fun game.

Sad times for DOOM, but hockey is hockey and it's still fun!

Last weekend saw the opening round of SRHL season 2015B, and DOOM got off to a great start drowning the Bicton Bath Salts 15 to 6 in a surprisingly hot winters day.

It wasn't long into the first period before DOOM were on the board, Sam getting the "first of the season" honours, then teaming up with Jim "The Iron Curtain" Tuckwell to lock out the defensive zone and allow no goals in that period. DOOM up 6 nil at the end of the first, with everyone managing a goal in a great display of teamwork.

The second period saw a slight resurgence from the Salties, Jack McCracken frothing at the mouth and leading the charge, helping to put a few on the Salties goal tally. It wasn't long until Bodie retook the momentum again, snagging 4 goals for himself that period to take DOOM's total to 12 against the Salties 3.

An unusually hot winters day slowed the game down in the last period, both teams were exchanging goals and looking for the shade. Bodie was looking for that elusive "octa-goal" 8 goal haul again, but there wasn't enough time. DOOM winning 15 to 6.

Thanks again to the Salties, it was a fun season opener and we look forward to seeing you guys again.

DOOM welcomes you to season 2015b!

We've made a couple changes to our line-up this season! Coach Kai has relegated himself to actual coaching status as he goes on a special hockey fact finding overseas trip in America this season.

To replace him we have a new recruit that we've been training in secret: Amy! With a field hockey background she's sure to make waves with her shin-splintering accurate shots. Teaming up with Lenne, they will prove to be the best girls in the league and give all the guys a run for their money too.

Bodie's quest for the octo-goal (8 goals in a game) continues as he strives for the fabled octo-octo-goal (8 goals in a game, 8 times), but look out because once the footy season is over Matty is putting his all into roller hockey and is looking to top score, that is if he doesn't take up yet another sport!

Jim has filled his leg padding with cement, making certain that nothing will break through his iron tight defense and Sam has pimped his skates with green, that'll somehow help him play better, right?

Stay tuned for more as we play the Bicton Bath Salts this weekend!

The season is finally over and now it's playoffs time. We had an action packed season filled with some great nail-biters with the top teams, made plenty more friends and had a load of fun.

All that matters now is that DOOM win the next 4 games to play for the Canley Cup at Hockeyfest! First up this Sunday at 11:30AM we take on the GMLA Angels at the Speed Dome (also now referred to as the DOOM DOME 2.0).

Last round of the season DOOM played the Mindarie Molotovs.

Fresh in their new jerseys, the Molotovs were out for some payback after losing to the DOOM last season but DOOM were every bit as eager to finish off the season with a win.

The first period on the small court at John Forrest made for some tight and congested play, but DOOM made the most of it with an early goal by Bodie. By the end of the first DOOM had a comfortable 3 goal lead.

Into the second period and The Molotov's Benson awoke, getting 3 quick goals in a row to tie the game up. After a quick settling DOOM snuck in a goal from a turnover to take a 1 goal lead into the last.

DOOM extended the lead to 2 again, but couldn't hold it as the Molotovs kept up the pressure with Benson and Vaughan leading the charge, tying the game up. With a minute left the Molotovs sunk the deciding goal and took victory. DOOM losing 9-10.

Despite the loss it was a great game to end the season with, thanks fellas!

Monday saw the DOOM take on two old foes in what would be a day about vengeance, the Dianella Demons, and the Bicton Banter Lords.

First up were the Demons, the first team DOOM ever played against, and also their first ever loss. With coach Kai back in the team, DOOM were looking for payback, and right from the get go started putting goals in the back of the net, both Sam and Bodie working well together to give the team a healthy lead into the first break.

The second period saw Matty shrugging off his hamstring injury, attach a GoPro to himself and then set out to make some speccy highlights, getting 2 quick goals to set the tone for the rest of the game. A few hiccups couldn't derail the DOOM-train though, even Sam managed to find some glory in what has been a quiet season for him, racking up 6 goals in the game, but was still overshadowed by Bodie's 8 goal 5 assist haul, claiming the first "OCTAGOALS" for the season.

In the end DOOM prevailed over the Demons, 19 to 4, and finally found the retribution for last seasons game.

After a celebratory winner's dinner, DOOM travelled to the far west to take on the Banter Lords at Gibbon in a chilly evening of more hockey. DOOM were still hungry for more payback as the Banter Lords were the team to knock DOOM out at the quarter finals during the playoffs.

After the first few minutes of play, it was apparent this game was only going to be decided by a goal or two. Banter Lords managed to get 2 in quick succession, but DOOM replied with 2 of their own. Banter Lords would get another but DOOM replied straight away. This continued for the whole game in a gritty grind-fest, both teams trying to make every shot, every pass, every save count.

Tied up and with 3 minutes left in the game Banter Lords snuck in a goal, but DOOM were quick to respond with more pressure, trying valiantly to get in that equalizer, but with 30 seconds left the Banter Lords got a lucky turnover and the out of position DOOM weren't able to prevent the last goal of the game that sealed their fate. Going down to 11 to 9.

Despite the loss, spirits were still high, both teams pushed each other to the brink and even though Banter Lords came out on top again, it was one hell of a match and we can't wait until the next time we face off.

Tune in next time as we play our last game of the regular season against the Mindarie Molotovs at John Forrest on Saturday!
