Providing martial arts and karate classes to Maylands and surrounding communities.

Instructors at Maylands are Nationally certified, hold current WWC cards and certificates in CPR and First Aid. Yoseikan-Ryu Karate Maylands is registered with Kidsport and the club is affiliated with the WA Karate Federation/ Australian Karate Federation/ World Karate Federation. Kindy Karate (3 - 4 years)
Saturday 9.15 - 9.45 am

Junior 5 – 7 years beginners:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thurs

day 4.15 – 5.00 pm and Saturday 8.30 – 9.15 am

Junior 8 - 11 years beginners:
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 5.00 – 6.00 pm and Saturday 10.00 – 11.00 am

Junior 12 - 14 years beginners:
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 6.00 - 7.00 pm and Saturday 11.00 am - 12.00 pm

15 + and adult beginners:
Monday and Thursday 7.00 – 8.00 pm, Wednesday 6.00 – 7.00 pm and Saturday 11.00 am – 12.00 pm.

Last week our squad competed in another State League Tournament 🥊🥋

It was a packed day for the squad who were well supported by our travelling community. A big thank you to Sammy for coaching the kids and to Suzy for coordinating the squad on the day.

We had many of the usual suspects performing well and medalling. It was particuarly exciting to see some of our newer squad members, Danka, Marcus and Nhujaa, having standout performances in their events. Well done 👏

Happy mothers day to all our lovely dojo mums and mother figures 🌸 thank you for joining our mothers day classes and spending this time with your little ones to make the day so special!

You do so much for your kids and families each and every day and to support their karate and life journeys. We hope you feel seen and celebrated this weekend 🙏

A massive thank you to Sammy who introduced these events a few years ago and has gone on to do them bigger and better each time! These events are such a highlight of the year.

On the weekend we attended the Karate WA annual Awards Night. What a great night to celebrate everyone's efforts in 2025 and those selected to represent WA at this years National Championships.

So proud of our young superstars at the Australian Open this weekend 🥇🥉

Competing at national level is a huge commitment and you have all trained so hard for the challenge this weekend!

🥇 Beau Hooper - Australian Open Champion! A massive congratulations to young Beau who had his breakout moment this weekend, building off his 3rd place at last years Nationals. Wow!

🥊 Marcus Leese - one of our youngest competitors, Marcus showed tremendous bravery to step out on the tatami. We are very proud of you for your efforts in both kata and kumite and this is just the beginning!

🥉 Electra Watson - on a huge streak of medalling at 4 national events in a row! Fought very well to secure 3rd place and also performed strongly in kata getting through the first 2 rounds.

A huge thank you to all the Yoseikan-Ryu coaches who supported everyone competing.

🤵👰‍♂️ Proud to announce that instructors Jon and Sam became Mr and Mrs Staynor on 14.03.2026!

They had a dream wedding in Nara, Japan. Surrounded by the deer and cherry blossoms 🦌🌸 thank you to our lovely community for sharing in our happiness ❤️

What a day of competition at the 2026 State Championships! We finished with 12 medals from 11 competitors 👏 3🥇5🥈4🥉

The teamwork, community and suppport from the competitors and families were outstanding and the highlight of the day. Win or lose we supported as a team and had a tonne of fun along the way 😁

Some standout performances included Sam becoming State Champion again, this time while pregnant! Electra fought clinically and with great maturity to get gold in her fighting event. Rayyen and Aiden had a very comptitive fight meeting each other in the final 🏆

Thank you as always to our volunteers who make all the difference. Sam for coaching our athletes so well, Jason for refereeing and Suzy for coordinating our squad 👏
