The parts of Muay Thai every beginner DREADS at the start!

• Skipping (even better in winter. Yes, you do have to use the heavy rope.)
• Shadow boxing (don’t worry, no one’s watching… probably)
• Push ups (FYI, they’re meant to suck)

Stick with it. I can’t guarantee it gets easier…
You just get better at suffering. šŸ˜‚

This week we farewell a couple of our Satori OG’s as they relocate to Dubbo!

We want to wish Molly, Harry, Max & Goldie the very best as they follow life’s next venture, and thank them for their continued support since we opened SMT at Broadmeadow.

We look forward to seeing you all again, hopefully sooner rather than later! There will always be a special place for you here at the gym 🄰

With new members coming through the doors each week, we have been hammering pad holding this week.

Everyone loves a good pad holder! And good pad work is one of the most important things for Muay Thai.
It’s not about memorising combinations, it’s about range, positioning, timing, and understanding your partner.
Learn how to hold properly, move with your partner and give them the right targets at the right distance. This will take you so much further then any flashy combinations šŸ’Æ

Thursday 5:30pm - Fundamentals & All Levels pad work. Come get some!

One of the best ways for students new to sparring or contact drills is live / freestyle drilling.
ā€œThe only way to get better, is by doing the thingā€
We’ll commonly use this after our drills in Tuesday all levels class, or before sparring on Wednesday’s as a warm up.

This is where you will begin to pick up reads from your partner, find your timing and establish your range. Doing this at live pace with speed and control is the best translation to real life scenario, whether it be for general self defence or competitive sparring!

Where else in Newcastle do you get to step into your first Muay Thai class and have a Thai fight superstar, multiple-time World Champion and former Rajadamnern Stadium Champion showing you the ropes?

Last week we welcomed Chanajon ā€œWinā€ PK Saenchai back to SMT, and for some of our newer members, it was their first time meeting him.

Win isn’t just here for the fighters. He’s front and centre across the gym. Taking all new members through their introductory sessions, assisting across all classes, sharing his experience with the team and available for PTs 6 days a week.

Whether you’re stepping into the gym for the first time or chasing your next level, you get access to someone who has spent his life at the highest level.

Come train with the best!
