It’s back! Need to swap out the group set before I can ride it then give it a once over and rebuild for the show. That will all have to wait though. Priorities.

Finally got some action shots coming through. I seem to miss all the photographers when I’m racing. 😆……..because I’m only there for content. 🤣

Phew! Last stage and what a wild ride that was for me. I’m not a confident jumper coming from old school road/xc back ground. It’s something I’ve been working on a lot and am starting to trust myself more. I was cooked by the time I got to the start of stage 7, middle KumaGutza into lower Ayr-ya-goin. I really struggled on the climb up which given the aforementioned race history was a real smack in the face. Walking up climbs is not something I’ve ever really done in racing unless it was a forced dismount of the old days of xc racing. I knew I had to ride every meter of the stage and not let me guard down. I didn’t want to go over the bars on this one. I have to say one of the raddest runs I’ve ever done. Pretty clean and as fast as I’ve ever ridden on terrain like that. Pretty happy I got through and jelly legs. 5th on stage after 4:30 mins of riding and 20secs off the stage winner. I’ll take that considering my fading strength. In all I was 7th, 7th, 7th, 5th, 3rd, 4th, 5th for 6th overall and 2:07 back after 22:41 mins of racing for me. I lost 1:30 in the first three stages which shows my pedaling fitness needs a chunk of work which is no surprising living in Maydena! 🤣🤣

Back to building bikes and getting ready for the Spojen bike show at the end of June.

The fatigue was kicking in hard by now. 23 Stitches was stage 6 at at Derby. It was a pretty straight forward stage with a fun finish. A little ride up the bank at the end added to the excitement. Was starting to really struggle to put the power down on this one. 6 seconds back on this one in 4th so going ok.
