⛳ We CLOSED the entire golf course for 2 days… here’s why. 👀👇

No golf. No shortcuts. Just two massive days of course renovations. 🌱

What might look like we’re tearing the course apart is actually one of the most important things we do all year.

Coring, aeration, verti-draining and topdressing help relieve compaction, improve drainage and get air, water and nutrients deeper into the soil — creating stronger roots, healthier turf and better playing surfaces. ⛳

It’s why sometimes you have to make a golf course look worse before you can make it better.

2 days closed. Months of benefit. 💚💛

A huge effort from Jake, our grounds team and everyone who gave up their time to help get it done. 👏

Now the race is on… how quickly can we get these greens looking pure again? 👀🌱

The tools are out, the dirt is flying and Pam’s keeping the project on track! 😂

Our course renovations need one more day, which means the course will remain CLOSED Tuesday 8 September while the team finishes the job.

The good news? We’re planning to be BACK OPEN Wednesday 9 September! 🏌️‍♂️💚

⛳ COURSE RENOVATIONS – MONDAY 7/9

It’s renovation time at Mawson Lakes Golf Club, which means the course will be CLOSED for the entire day Monday while Jake and the team get stuck into some important work around the course.

And this time… Jake could use some backup! 💪😂

🙋‍♂️ VOLUNTEERS WANTED

If you’ve got some spare time during the day Monday, we’d love a few extra sets of hands to help the team out.

⛳ HOLE 8 — WHERE PAR FEELS LIKE A BIRDIE 😮‍💨

402 metres. Par 4. Small green.

On the card it says Par 4…
Hole 8 sometimes has other ideas. 😂

One of the tougher tests at Mawson Lakes, the 8th demands a solid drive AND a quality approach — because after you’ve covered all that ground, there’s not exactly a massive green waiting for you.

Miss the green and suddenly that par starts looking a long way away. 👀

So here’s the question…

⛳️ HERE’S HOW WE GOT THERE… 🌱👀

Following on from yesterday’s course update, here’s a look at some of the work that’s been happening behind the scenes.

The Verti-Drain work has now been completed, helping relieve compaction, improve drainage and get air deeper into the soil profile.

After the amount of water the course has handled this winter, this work is an important part of getting the course healthy and ready to thrive as the warmer weather arrives. ☀️🌱

It’s a big job, but as you could see from yesterday’s photos, the results are already looking pretty bloody good! 👌⛳️

⛳️ Verti-drained… AND STILL LOOKING THIS GOOD! 👀🌱

The verti-draining of our greens and fairways is now complete, and considering just how much water the course has taken over the past few weeks, things are looking pretty bloody good! 👌

You’ll notice plenty of little holes out there at the moment, but it’s all part of the process. Vertical-draining helps relieve compaction, improve drainage and get air and nutrients down into the soil, setting the course up beautifully as we head into the warmer months. ☀️

The greens in particular are already looking fantastic, and with a bit of sunshine and growing weather, those holes won’t hang around for long.

A massive effort from Jake and the team, especially after battling Mother Nature for what feels like forever! 🌧️😂

🌧️ MOTHER NATURE WINS… AGAIN. ⚡️🏳️

Jake the Weatherman has fought the rain.
He’s fought the mud.
He’s fought the flooding.
He’s probably said a few words we can’t post on Facebook. 😂

But after another battle for Mawson Lakes, even our superhuman greens keeper has finally met his match.

Mother Nature: 1 🌩️
Jake: 0 🏌️‍♂️

With the course already saturated and Mother Nature deciding we clearly haven’t had enough water yet, the course will be CLOSED Tuesday 25 August.

It’s never a decision we enjoy making, but protecting the course now gives Jake and the team the best chance of getting everyone back out there as soon as conditions allow. 💙💛

In the meantime, somebody please check on Jake… we think he’s already planning the rematch. 👀😂
