❄️ Day 1 of the Gulpa Creek Open Fours is complete!

A chilly winter’s day didn’t stop 72 keen bowlers from taking to the greens at Mathoura Bowling Club for another fantastic day of competition.

After three rounds, we have just one unbeaten team sitting on three wins, while 12 teams have recorded two wins, setting up a thrilling final day tomorrow.

With so many teams still in the hunt, it’s anyone’s tournament heading into Day 2!

A big thank you to everyone who travelled to Mathoura, and good luck to all teams as we return tomorrow to decide the 2026 Gulpa Creek Open Fours champions. ❄️

We are seeking Expressions of Interests for the 2026/27 bowling season at Mathoura Bowling Club.

▫️Whether you’re a current bowler or thinking about joining us for the first time, we invite you to register your interest if you plan to play pennant or club bowls next season.
▫️This information is essential in helping us plan our teams, structure selections, and ensure we continue to field competitive and well-balanced sides across all grades.

📅 Please register your interest with the office by 24 July 2026.

▫️Your commitment helps us build a strong season ahead both on and off the greens, and ensures we can prepare early for what promises to be another exciting year of bowls at the club.

▫️We welcome all players—experienced and new—to be part of our bowling community. There’s never been a better time to get involved, enjoy the camaraderie, and represent the club.

❤️ RIP NEALE DANIHER ❤️

Today, we reflect on just how privileged we have been to witness the impact of Neil Daniher on the game of AFL — and far beyond it.

▫️Neil showed us that leadership is not measured by wins, titles or statistics, but by courage, humility, resilience and the ability to inspire others in the toughest of circumstances.
▫️Through his fight against MND, he united communities, created hope and reminded Australians what true strength looks like.

▫️The values Neil instilled in all of us — determination, compassion, mateship and selflessness — are lessons that extend well beyond football.
▫️Every sporting club, team and community group can learn from the way he carried himself with dignity, positivity and purpose.

▫️In a world where sport can sometimes focus too heavily on results, Neil reminded us that character matters most.
▫️His legacy is not only what he achieved in AFL, but the way he encouraged people to support one another, give back and never stop fighting.

▫️Thank you, Neil, for showing generations of Australians what real leadership looks like.
▪️Your impact on sport and the wider community will never be forgotten. 💙

🎉 National Volunteers Week 🎉

Community clubs don’t run themselves - and while some days it feels a little chaotic, we truly do appreciate the people who put their hand up to help throughout the year.

Whether it’s helping at tournaments, selling raffle tickets, setting up, packing up, lending a hand behind the scenes or just jumping in when needed… thank you to the volunteers who give up their time for our club.

Community clubs only work because of people willing to pitch in - and we’re lucky to have people who still do ❤️💙💛
