Hard start to the day and a bit of luck contacting the street but another great day.

Another fantastic weekend at Warwick Gliding Club. Sunday was a late start as it was cloudless to begin with but it got going around 12.30pm and stayed good until last light. Some nice distances and many smiling faces at the end of the day, great to see Les Milne and Phil Southgate back flying with us again

horizon to horizon cloudstreets up to 5,800ft later in the day, climbs of 4 to 6kts. The wooden wonder crew was out in force and a biannual flight review done. Fun was had by all.

Wow!

The record breaking temperatures last Tuesday kept most people at home in the shade but a small group of intrepid aviators at WGC were tempted to the skies by an almost unbelievable forecast of 13,000ft thermals. Alan West had an incredible flight in his Duo Discus to eventually reach over 14,000ft in thermals. Conditions like this are unheard of in the UK where a "very good" day might see thermals up to a height of around 6000ft. Gliding - We wonder if this might be the highest thermal ever taken in the UK without having to climb in cloud? Record or not, congratulations to Alan on a mega flight!

Winter weather clear blue skies

Winter at Warwick Gliding Club doesn't get much better than this, 6kt climbs to 7,500ft. Brian took an air experience flight up for over an hour, the passenger was stoked!
