Progress update!

We have submitted our initial concept proposal to the Rec Reserve Committee and Geoff has been very prompt in reviewing the plan and forwarding it on to his contacts at the Cardinia Council for their perusal.

He is confident we will receive a response in a week or so, to discuss if our plan has merit and the processes involved in moving forward.

Cross your fingers everyone, and lets hope they like our idea and we can get the fundraising started!

🚴‍♀️🛹 Behind the scenes update - May 2023

We have a small sub committee of dedicated locals working on bring our kids a pump track! (If you're keen to be part of the process please get in touch)

After a quick chat with the Rec Reserve committee, we are now working on an initial Concept Proposal focussed on what we would like and where we would like it. The Rec Reserve will then present this proposal to the council on our behalf.

The first step is to get the council on board with the concept. We need them to agree with the location and the type of track we would like to install. From there we can put together a proper plan, start applications for funding, begin to carry out our own fundraising and work with Parkitect to narrow down on the design of the track that we would like to install.

We are currently looking further into the possible installation of a Parkitect pumptrack at the rec reserve, but a question keeps popping up.... What is a Pumptrack?

A pumptrack is a circular loop consisting of rollers and berms, that when ridden correctly requires no pedaling or pushing. Pumptracks are ridden by bikes, skateboards, scooters or roller blades.

Have you heard of the Parkitect modular pump tracks? A local sent me a video not so long ago, of her son thoroughly enjoying a Parkitect track when they were on holidays and folks, I think this might be the answer we've been looking for.

Myself and some other locals have been looking into the concept of these tracks and if it will work for Maryknoll so don't think for a moment that we've forgotten about our dreams for a track for our kids!

My big boy and I had a day out the other day so we checked out a couple of the local parks for some fun for him and research for me 😉.

The Cockatoo BMX Pumps Track is incredible! Its designed with different routes for varying levels of experience.

The Gembrook Skate Park was fantastic. It provides so many options for the different skill levels but also a variety of equipment like skateboards, shooters, bikes etc.

What do you think might be a good fit for Maryknoll?

A little inspiration from one of our local BMXers. Toby travels all the way to places like Warragul and Trafalgar for a decent skate park.

Now I don't think we'll be able to get one as big as the parks in these videos but to give these kids something in our own town will be fantastic!
