Congratulations to Jose who was recently presented with his 3rd DAN Kukkiwon Black Belt certificate. Jose started taekwondo at the club when he was 4 years old and has achieved a lot in his taekwondo journey. He also assists in the junior classes and competes at State & National Tournaments. Well done Jose.

Well done to Heather who represented the club recently on May 1st at the World Selections Poomsae Event held at Carrara Stadium at the Gold Coast. The event attracted 163 top athletes from all over Australia in various age divisions who competed to secure a place in the Australian Team to represent Australia later this year in September in Chuncheon, Korea. Heather secured bronze, missed out on the team, but had a great experience in a well contested competition. Now back to the training Mat!!

Well done everyone on your grading day today. Congrats to Emily Carberry who successfully passed her 3rd Poom Black Belt grading today. A great achievement by all. There are Monday and Thursday classes this week for both Juniors and Seniors. See you then.

Our club team have just returned from Adelaide after competing in the National Australian Taekwondo Championships held at the Netball SA Stadium. A successfull weekend, with over 2000 competitors from all over Australia. The Team brought home 5 Gold, 3 Silver & 5 Bronze medals. Well done to Brian, Heather, Noor, Jose & Ella. Congratulations for your committment to training. Also well done to Staci Jones who was a judge for the event. Go Team!

Maryborough Martial Arts were once again well represented on Sunday at the 2nd ATV State Championships & Selection event for the upcoming Australian National Championships to be held in Adelaide in October. Brian, Noor, Ella, Jose and Heather all achieved great results bringing home 8 Gold, 3 Silver & 4 Bronze titles. Staci Jones also represented the club in a Judging capacity. The event was held at the State Netball-Hockey Centre at Parkville on the weekend. All have qualified to represent the club at the Australian Taekwondo Championships. Go TEAM!

In addition, Staci Jones, (centre) was awarded a Life Membership with MMA for her dedication and committment to training and for what she has given back to the sport. Staci started her Taekwondo journey with Maryborough Martial Arts in 2001 when she was 7 years old.

A REMINDER - no junior class, only Senior on Thursday July 3, then all classes re-commence on Monday July 21st & Thursday July 24th. Stay Warm!!!!

Maryborough Martial Arts were well represented on Sunday 22nd June at the State Poomsae Championships held in Melbourne. With 550 entries, this was the biggest State Poomsae tournament in the history of the championships event. All events were hotly contested and the club brought home 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze medals. Well done to Jose, Emily, Fysh, Brian & Heather. Back to the mat now for more training in preparation for the Australian Nationals later this year in Adelaide.
