The latest to join us from Bishop Auckland Cricket Club in England's North Yorkshire & South Durham Cricket League, Thomas adds further strength to our squad, combining quality pace bowling with flowing middle-order batting.

Fun fact about Tom: he is an absolute fitness beast. Just how fit? He recently completed a gruelling 15-hour 70 mile ultramarathon (112km) on a trail along Hadrian's Wall.

Colts Phelans Cricket Club would like to take the opportunity to celebrate the life and achievements of Ken Gibbs, who peacefully passed away yesterday.

An icon of CPCC, Ken will forever be regarded as the Godfather of our club.

Off the field, he was one of the driving forces behind the club's formation, encouraged the move to our current home at J.H. Hedges Memorial Oval, and played a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining the centre wicket square. Add to that his countless contributions through administration and coaching, and it's fair to say Colts Phelans would not be the club it is today without his vision, dedication and unwavering support.

On the field, his achievements are the stuff of legend.

Arguably the greatest player to ever don the Baggy Blue, Ken played 211 A Grade matches, scoring 4,933 runs (6th all-time) and taking an incredible 571 wickets (1st all-time). Under his leadership as captain, Colts Phelans celebrated multiple A Grade premierships, cementing his place among the club's greatest figures.

In recognition of his extraordinary service and achievements, Ken was deservedly awarded Life Membership of Colts Phelans Cricket Club.

Ken also represented the MDCA with immense pride. A key figure in multiple Country Week campaigns, he captained the association to one of its proudest achievements - the 1963 Provincial Premiership. During that remarkable week, he claimed 29 wickets, including two nine-wicket hauls and a six-wicket haul in the final at the MCG.

Such was the respect and admiration he earned throughout the Maryborough community that he was also awarded MDCA Life Membership, with the league's A Grade "Player of the Year" now recognised as the prestigious Ken Gibbs Medal.

Ken's legacy extends far beyond statistics and premierships. A wonderful human being, he helped build the foundations of our club, inspired generations of players, and left an impact that will never be forgotten.

On behalf of everyone at Colts Phelans Cricket Club, we extend our sincere condolences to Ken's family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Since his arrival during the 2025/26 season, Liam has fit in seamlessly with everything we stand for as a club. He challenges us to be the best we can be, using his wealth of knowledge and passion for the game to help drive our standards.

Liam played a crucial role in A Grade's Grand Final victory last season, and it's a feeling he's determined to experience again this summer:

"I want another flag and I want everyone to improve. I think at the very least, if I can help players through the whole club improve their own game, Iโ€™ll feel like Iโ€™ve done my job. We have a very strong list and I donโ€™t really need to add too much."

When he isn't asleep like he was for the entire second day of the cricket trip, Johno lives and breathes this cricket club... And we love him for it.

His team-first attitude and passion for the game helped A Reserve produce a remarkable eight-game winning streak on the way to premiership success last season. Now, lifting the shield once again is high on his list of goals:

"Itโ€™s an honour to lead this great club for a second season. I canโ€™t thank the club enough for trusting me again with the captaincy and Iโ€™m looking forward to the opportunity to work with Stubbo to give both grades the best chance at back-to-back success. Weโ€™ve got a great group of lads and Iโ€™m excited for the next chapter of the Colts story!"
