This season I have Matt from Gamble Brothers Racing driving my blue Triple X chassis car. Neither Matt or I have actually raced at Maryborough previously and we were looking forward to the night. With a round in October plus the Queensland Title in April on the schedule, it was a great chance to help us test out some setups and give more seat time for Matt in his first season in wingless. We each had a few runs in the car to see how different setups went as the track evolved during the night.
The practice runs went really well, with the car continuing to perform strongly with the little wrecker engine we ran all of last season. There were 3x other wingless teams in for the practice night and we enjoyed the chats in the pits 🤠. It was great to have Matt's partner Peta from Peta’s Pit Talk doing pit interviews with up and coming speedway drivers, as well as looking after the Wingless Sprints Qld live streams and helping out all of the teams (photo credit to Peta). And a thank you as well to Matt's daughter Paige for helping us in the pits with car prep, setup changes, and assisting us belting up in the car.
I will be running a two car team for the 2022/23 season, with the Cool chassis 2nd car currently under construction. With a busy next few weeks, we hope to have both cars at round 1 on 24th September to take on the high banks of Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway. Both of my cars will be fitted out and looking schmick soon thanks to Tim from Speedway Stickers, and Lewis Gamble will have both engines revving hard all season long!
