Round 8, Player of the week!

For the third time this season, Round 8 Player of the Week honours go to Tommy Alkemade. In a hard-fought contest against Carisbrook, Tommy was instrumental in giving Talbot every opportunity to secure an important win right until the dying moments. His composure under pressure was on full display when he slotted a crucial goal late in the final quarter, bringing the Hawks back within eight points and setting up a thrilling finish.

Once again proving himself as one of the competition's fiercest competitors, Tommy accumulated 26 disposals, with his silky left foot put to use 23 times throughout the afternoon. He also recorded 15 contested possessions, 7 tackles, and 7 clearances in a dominant midfield display. Whether winning the hard ball, applying pressure around the contest, or driving Talbot forward, Tommy consistently influenced the game and led by example. His relentless work rate and ability to perform in key moments were major reasons the Hawks remained in the contest all day, making him a worthy recipient of the award for the third time in 2026.

The Talbot Football Netball Club Player of the Week for Round 7 is Dean Galea. Since joining the Hawks in 2026, Dean has made an immediate impact around the club, kicking 5 goals in his first game before backing it up with a dominant 8-goal performance against a strong Navarre outfit on the weekend. His contested marking and accurate finishing in front of goal were major highlights of the day and proved pivotal in Talbot’s dangerous forward-half presence.🦅

Beyond his on-field performances, Dean has also impressed with the standards he sets at training and the way he has quickly immersed himself within the club environment. His leadership and experience are having a significant influence on the group, helping shape a confident and dangerous forward line for the Hawks.

The Talbot Football Netball Club would like to sincerely thank Matt Whelan from MW Construction in Beaufort for his outstanding support throughout the 2026 season. Since joining the Hawks family, Matt has become a valued part of the club and a fantastic supporter of our players, coaches and wider community.
Matt is always checking in to see how the teams are going and is continually looking for ways to help the club. His generosity and genuine interest in the success of Talbot have made a significant impact both on and off the field.

MW Construction has built a strong reputation across the Beaufort region for delivering quality building and construction work, including new homes, renovations, extensions, decking, pergolas and outdoor entertaining areas. Matt and his team are known for their professionalism, reliability and high standard of workmanship.

Vale Geoff “Goffa” Roche 🕊️

The Talbot FNC community wishes to pass on their sincere condolences to the Roche family on the passing of Geoff “Goffa” Roche. Geoff was a valued member of our club having served as a player and on the committee over many years.

His legacy at Talbot won’t soon be forgotten with two more generations of his family still heavily involved at the club, both on and off the oval/court.

Geoff’s funeral will be held on Friday May 29th at 11:00am at the Amherst Cemetery. We encourage the wider Talbot community to support the Roche’s in this difficult time. 🤍🕊️
