Annette Eberle is one of those special people whose impact on Doon Villa Football Club can still be felt today.
She first became known to many in the Doon Villa family through her โAirport Shopโ on Creek Road, but it was when her son Graham joined the club in 1978 and later Kevin that Annetteโs incredible journey with Doon Villa truly began. From that moment on, she gave her time, energy, and heart to the club without hesitation.
Annette didnโt just support the club, she helped build it. Through her shop, she raised vital funds with initiatives like lucky envelopes, always finding ways to give back. She became a familiar face around the grounds, stepping up as canteen co-organiser alongside Mr Biggs, where her warmth and dedication helped create the strong community spirit the club is known for.
In 1983, Annette took on the role of Club Secretary for the 1984 season, beginning years of tireless service in one of the clubโs most important roles. Even while managing the demands of secretary, she went above and beyond taking on the full organisation and operation of the canteen in 1985. Nothing was ever too much when it came to supporting Doon Villa.
Her passion for the game extended well beyond the club. Throughout the 1980s, Annette gave her time to the wider football community through roles in the soccer federation and junior association, and later as Federation Secretary. Her commitment to football at every level was truly remarkable.
In October 1989, Annette was awarded Life Membership, a fitting recognition for everything she had already given. Yet even then, she continued to serve as Club Secretary into the 1990s, a testament to her loyalty and love for the club.
Annette Eberle represents the very heart and soul of Doon Villa. Her dedication, selflessness, and passion helped shape the club into what it is today. We are forever grateful for everything she gave, and proud to honour her as one of our Life Members.
In memory of Annette Eberle, a Memorial Shield is awarded to the Senior Womenโs Player of the Year.
