“I keep thinking about starting… but I’m not sure if this is for me.”

If you’re in your 40s (or beyond), this thought has probably crossed your mind more than once.

“Will I get injured?”
Not if you’re coached properly.
At 444, we don’t throw you into random workouts. We teach you how to lift. We scale. We progress intelligently. Strength training protects your joints when done correctly.

“What if I’ve never lifted before?”
Perfect.
You’re not behind. You’re just beginning and we love that. Our programming meets you where you are, whether that’s bodyweight squats or barbell hip thrusts.

“Is strength training even necessary at my age?”
Especially at your age.
From 35 onwards, we naturally begin losing muscle mass and bone density. Strength training is how you slow that down. It’s how you age with energy instead of aches.

Training on Your Period 🫦🍫
What the research really does say…

💪🏼 Exercise can reduce menstrual pain:
Research finds that regular physical activity, especially light to moderate aerobic exercise like walking, cycling, or swimming, can significantly lower cramps and pelvic pain during your period. One review of multiple studies found that women who exercise regularly report less pain severity compared with those who are sedentary. 🩸🏃‍♀️

☀️ Why does this happen?
Exercise increases blood flow, releases endorphins (our body’s natural pain killers), and helps reduce muscle tension, all of which can ease cramps and improve mood. 😊

🕺🏼 Strength training? Absolutely!
Resistance training isn’t harmful during menstruation, in fact, keeping strength sessions consistent can help maintain performance and mood. You might notice variations in energy, that’s normal. Adjust intensity based on how you feel.

Listen to your body 😌
Some days you’ll feel powerful, some days you need gentle movement, BOTH are valid. Training through your period doesn’t have to mean pushing super hard, it can also mean prioritising movement that feels good on that day.

Hip thrusts aren’t just “up and down.”
They’re full body strength.

At Gym 444, the barbell hip thrust is one of our non negotiables but only when it’s executed properly.
